My XBOX goes by XBOX. Sometimes I call it Microsoft XBOX.

I guess yall don't know that your boxes are given names by Microsoft...

One of mine is called King, and the other is Harold.

Well the only way I ever saw the name was in Halo. It shows the name on the top left when you're launching a multiplayer game.

So Microsoft released all these millions of X-boxes with unique names that can be tracked over the X-box live network?

Does no one see a problem with that?

And that couldn't have been done with serial numbers? Who's to say that it doesn't happen with PC games already? Or with the PS2?

What can they do anyways? I'm not really bothered by the fact that Microsoft might know that I played Halo 2 at 3:30 am last Saturday.

EDIT: I've only seen the names on Halo 1. I've never seen the name anywhere else. Not sure why the names wouldn't be shown anywhere else.

the ethernet card in the box has a unique MAC address...and that also can be tracked, even easier than a unique box name.

Thay may be able to track it via mac address and by nick names on the xbox, But its possible to change the nickname on the xbox.

Use one of the following games and the method described to ''name'' your Xbox:

Dead or Alive 3 - Play Survival or Time Attack mode until you rank in the top ten. Name entered for the scoreboard will be your new Xbox name.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Create a Live nickname (Live not required). Nickname entered will be your new Xbox name.

Cel Damage - Create and save a profile. Profile name will be your new Xbox name.

MotoGP - Same as Cel Damage.

Tracking X-Boxes? No big deal to me, the only thing I do on the X-Box is play games.

Tracking my computer or Windows? That's a big deal. There's a helluva lot more I do on my computer than the boxx.
