IGN gave it a 9.8. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it a 10, 10, 9.5. JESUS H!!! I'm buying this game ASAP. Another one on the queue!

Any word on a mult-platform release? AFAIK it's exclusive to PS2, which makes me sad .

Where the hell did this game pop out from?

Never even heard of it until I read the IGN review. Lets hope a hi-res PC version is on the agenda

I played a demo of this at Circuit City. This game is BAD ASS! You fight dragons, flying gargoyles, undead warriors and who knows what else. There are moments while you are fighting these dragons that a button will appear on the screen. If you press that button on time, you do some sweet ass moves. It played really well and was pretty intense. I'll be picking this up for sure.

I believe this game is PS2 exclusive. Which is Unfortunate for a gamecube and Xbox owner like myself. This game kind of snuck up on me as I'm usually on top of games that are relaesed for all system. I'm tempted to finally give in and buy a PS2 to play this game because it sounds like its right up my alley. But, I can't justify it.

PS2 exclusive, its Sony's baby, and it won't be hitting any other consoles, the game is definitely badass though. They did a decent job of letting stores know about it, but a shitty job of letting the consumer know about it, I guess they're counting on word of mouth. *shrug*

Great game. Not very much like Prince of Persia, but it's more like Devil May Cry with the cinematics and action.

I got GoW last friday...and its amazing. The minigame instakills are pretty neat, until you have to jam on the o button for the millionth time to kill a minotaur. The only boss fight I've had so far was the hydra, and that was way cooler than any video I saw. So far, its deserving of it's high ratings.

not like diablo at all. In no way whatsoever. I would call it a sort of Devila May Cry/Prince of Persia mix but 10000000000000000000 times better. The story and graphics are amazing, its odd and amazing seeing Greek mythology portrayed in such a dark fashion.

well you gain skills through the game and you can build on each skill if you want, but when you beat the game, there are so many reasons to play it again. Once you defeat it new story emerges as you play again, secret levels are unlocked, new costumes, new artwork and probably a bunch more things. I still have to beat the game though to tell you more unlockable things.

Love the game. I used to be a gamer...but stopped about 4 years ago. Within the past 2 years my girlfriend became infatuated with videogames. She brought this game over and it hasn't left my house. I blew the dust off of my PS2 and have totally gotten into all games again (i don't know if thats bad or good).
Anyway....God of War is just great all around. The story, the play, the enemies. Plus you get bonus points for making nice nice with a couple of chicks. I can't wait to get home and get to playing it!

I really really love this game. The animation and textures are amazing, everything looks so good. The story is involving, and the moves you do just fuckin rock. The only porblem I have is that there's a little too much button mashing. When I want to open a door, I just want to press R2 and it open, not R2, R2, R2, R2, R2, R2, R2, R2.

Still, it's been awesome to play. Killing the Spoiler: Hades Minotaur was awesome!!!

edit: beat the game, playing god mode right now.

I'm borrowing this game. It's fun and it's very pretty but overall I think it's unoriginal. Think true 3D Diablo with no armor but you get combo moves but only 2 weapons and 4 types of magic (one which is completely useless). Oh, there is also only like 10 different enemies that you fight.

You basically run around jumping and pressing combinations of square and triangle. I'm playing through on normal mode and the most difficulty I've had is with a few parts where you have to make timed jumps or avoid obstacles.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun and addictive but it's also short, easy, and repetitive.

Also, the camera angles suck ass. I want a camera angle that follows me with adjustable height. I fucking hate it when forward sometimes means forward, but also can mean back, left or right, depending on where the camera is, relative to the character. There is this beautiful scenery but you cannot move the camera to see it all! Bad form!!!

The shitty camera angle leads to this happening a lot:
Code:
__________________________________
|               /          o  o
|             /  x
|           /_________o____________
|         / |
|       /   |
|     c     |
c = camera
/ = line of sight
x = character
o = enemy

Basically you turn a corner, and there are enemies. The camera doesn't follow you so you cannot see them and fight them. You have to either move forward or move backwards if you want to see. In the meantime, they are damaging you.

I give it a 5/10. It's pretty, fun, and addictive but it is another classic case that great graphics != great game. You need to be able to see things from an angle that gives you good depth perception. You should never be in a situation where you cannot see your character while you are getting your ass kicked.

I loved the game I thought it had good hack n slash action with some nice puzzles thrown into the mix. The plot made the game that much better.

Absolutely fantastic game. I haven't felt such smooth controls since Ninja Gaiden. The progression of the story and Kratos' power-ups is nearly seamless, and the boss fights are amazing.

10/10 from me.

edit: Hades is an asshole. Who designed those cylinders and thought that it would be fun?

Trying to get through God Mode. Anyone who wants to survive this better be good at blocking! When you fight Medusa (or any Gorgon), you go down in two shots! Also, the killing moves become MUCH more satisfying when it takes 30 hits to bring down a simple dead Spartan.

My favorite killing moves: ripping off the Gorgon's head; ripping off the Harpie's wings; ripping off the skeleton digger's sword arm off and then chopping its head off with its own sword.

I like ripping things.
