WoW

I have a couple questions about World of Warcraft. First, how much is the monthly online membership fee? Next, does it require a GeForce 5200 or above? Finally, is it the best choice or is there another game that would be better?

Lasereth 02-09-2005 06:34 AM

Membership fee ranges from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month depending on how long of a subscription you pay for. I wouldn't play the game without an FX 5200 or above regardless of if it truly requires it. For the average player, WoW is the best choice of MMORPGs on the market.

WoW isn't very picky about what video card you're running. My wife plays at 1152 X 864 on a Geforce3 Ti200, I play at 1280 X 1024 on a Geforce4 Ti4400, and I've got an old 1GHZ PC with a Radeon 9600 that runs at 1024 X 768. All of these systems get great framerates with no system lag etc (unless you're in Ironforge, then all bets are off no matter what kind of system you have!)

All of those videocards you mentioned are better than an FX 5200. :) Even though I do agree that WoW cares more about how much RAM you have than your videocard or processor.

mainly all you need is lots of ram for the main sities as many people stay there. A decent pc should be able to run it fine but remmeber RAM

thats my two cents

You can also buy 60 day cards for $29.99 if you do not have a credit card, I buy mine at the local Gamestop.

fluzza 02-13-2005 10:21 PM

note that the pre paid gamecards only come in 60day (2 months)
there arent any one month cards

GakFace 02-14-2005 12:08 AM

Gamestop has'em? Now to figure out where they are here.. I know they're here I just never go to'em. Where else are the pre-paid cards?

Kodega 02-14-2005 06:30 AM

EB also has pre-paid cards for the same price.

Are you serious?? My gamecards are gonna run out at the end of this month! I hate paying for WoW with real money. I haven't paid a dime yet!! Go Christmas gift certificates!!!!! If it is true, I really hope they bring the gamecards back soon.

I bought a game card yesterday they have them where I am at.

GakFace 02-16-2005 12:54 AM

Best Buy had a bunch of them when I bought them Monday ago.

fluzza 02-16-2005 12:56 AM

The gamecard stoppage was for a while (for Australia anyway). Blizzard might have started to make them again

GakFace 02-16-2005 01:54 AM

Either way I bought 3 of them when I bought the game. ;)

Mr.Deflok 02-16-2005 02:51 AM

They've started back up again, at least they have in NZ and Australia.

killeena 02-17-2005 10:31 AM

I am running mine with a Geforce 4 ti 4200 on my desktop, and that runs great. I also run it on my laptop with an ATI Radeon 9000, and it doesn't run too bad at all.

fluzza 02-18-2005 02:13 AM

i run mine on a 9800 pro but WoW doesnt really care about the video card.. it cares about how much ram you have, especially in main cities
