CS vs CS:S
 

I searched and didn't find anything on this, so I thought I'd put it to a vote. Despite the outdate graphics, number of cheaters, and extent of e-thuggin' in Counter-Strike, I enjoy it a LOT more than Source and I'm not quite sure why. Technically I don't really play either of them much anymore, but it was a point of interest for me.

I vote for the Source version. No real reason other than it's better looking.

Anyways, I am not a player by any stretch of the term, but I sorta like the fact that the old CS is might brighter and you can SEE. Source seems to be darker, despite any adjustments you make to the gamma.

I hated the original CS, but I play CS:S quite often now. I dunno why, but I do.

I'd got with Source, for the graphics, and the copious numbers of barrels they added to every level. :D

same here, i still like the halflife source better though and TFC classic the best of all

I've only ever played CS about a dozen times at LAN parties and I hated it, the whole thing seemed too random to me. At the time I was an avid Action Quake 2 player and that action seemed 'solid'. CS always struck me as seemingly random - I'd be 2 feet away from someone, crouching and firing point blank and nothing would hit them. AQ2 was much more solid. The community I played with in AQ2 was also much better, we had fun rather than saying 'haha got you f4g!1' comments.

But I do play CS:S a lot now and I like it enough to keep playing. It seems more solid than CS but still not quite as good as AQ2. I think the graphics are fantastic and the world seems fairly lively - turtles and barrels and bottles go flying, it's all good stuff.

So I vote for CS:S.

I would vote for source, except that my computer sucks too much to play source well~

I also think, in some ways, CS looks better. The coloring is just more attractive, CS:S is very bland for me. I don't know how many here have played FFXI, but it's like comparing how FFXI looks to how WoW looks (FFXI being very bland, while WoW being vibrant and colorful)

CS and CS:S is only enjoyable on an ultra fast computer with high speed connection. Other than that I'm slamming my mouse against the table in primal rage.

I still play CS, also known as 1.6 . Its not as random as CS:S is.

CS:S, only because of the rag doll physics. And I guess the cool graphics too.

I'm rather sick of both by now. But, gotta love the physics in Source.

For me, CS is now unplayable without bunnyhopping(both CS and CS:S). The mod never purported to be about extreme realism so I don't understand how the feeling of walking in molasses is supposed to be improve gameplay. The number of Steam-converted 1.5 servers seems to be dwindling too. :|

I cannot touch the original CS after playing source. It's just so much better in every aspect - graphics, physics, lack of hacks, etc.

I play Source for the physics and the relative freedom from cheaters.

I definately agree that the graphics in 1.6 make for a much more playable game though. Maybe it's just that I'm so accustomed to them.

Definately a Source fan. I hadn't played CS in a long while, but after my wife got me HL2 for Christmas I've been a CS addict once again. Great graphics, good physics, lotsa guns. I could do without out some of the kids who play though...

Played CS from way the hell back in early beta before the game had 1/4 of what it has now.. and I am truely thankful for source.

The last 3-4 patches/versions for CS continually made the game worse from what it once was. CS:S made insanly brilliant chances to CS that I love to no end. Although I still hate both CS and CSS for taking away my precious docks.

Now if only we could filter players by actual age I would feel like playing the game again. :|

man i have yet to try out source but since i played cs for a very long time i have become sick of it...so i have to say source

I like CS:S but we need more maps and character models desperately!

I'm so sick of every other server being Dust 24/7!!

I still play CS:S, but it's just to kill time until DOD:S

CS:S.

Not a big fan of either but prefer the feel of CS:S
