baldur's gate?? anyone play? question...
so i've been playing BG2 for a while with a 3-man party, but want to change it so i can solo. however, the char i want to solo with IS NOT the main character...
anyone know how to change the character around to make him the main char? (so i can remove the others) i dont really feel like starting a new game... |
I know you can change the party leader. Just drag the portrait to the top of the party list, if I recall correctly. Does that allow you to then drop the main character?

Depends, what's your 3-man party? If it's the main character you created and 2 story characters you recruited along the way (i.e. Imoen, Minsc, Jaheira, Edwin, etc.), then you definitely CANNOT have one of them become your main.
If, however, you are in a "multiplayer" game with 3 created characters, you can just change who the main character is on the assignment screen everytime you load the game. |
There are some third party programs that can allow you to "hack" your characters for gold, levels, items, etc. I'm sure with this program you could change the character that is your main your character. I don't remember the name though, try looking at Gamefaqs.com BG2 messageboards and also at big BG2 fansites.

The storyline of BG2 relies pretty heavily on the main guy being the Bhaalspawn, though. Be careful you don't break it.
Oh, and my solo sorcerer rocks. I'm just up to Suldanesselar and I've already got all the epic skills, bar one. Woo! |
There is no way to play as anyone but the main character. You can choose to solo the game and not have any companions, which would theoretically allow you to custom make any of the other available characters and play like you think they might, but you cannot *be* Jan or Jahiera or any of the other playable NPCs.

Wrong Baldur's Gate, friend. We're talking the REAL 100 hour + one.
|
Yeah, there's no way to change your main char.
Badass game though. |
