Calling all Dueliest

Shonen Jump has gotten together with Konami, Dolby, and PCCD Rom. to produce a free Yu-Gi-Oh online game, which beats the old Yu-Gi-Oh Virtual Desktop game hands down.

First let me warn you. It's a massive download. It took my DSL line almost 15 minutes to download it.

Second: unlike the YVD program, you cannot pick your own cards. Everyone gets the standard dueling deck. But the game will give you a card for every game you play.

The game keeps track of scores, magic and trap cards. Everything. Making it easier for you to concentrate on the duel.

I'm not going to lie to you. At first the game can be boring. But if you ever played with a standard deck. You know that's not unusual. But after you move up in ranks. And get better cards. It gets pretty interesting

Come join in.

I might check into it. How does it (the original game) compare to Magic: The Gathering?

Duel Monsters (Yu-Gi-Oh) is not like MTG in many ways. But the gameplay is very closeto it. If you liked MTG you should like Duel Monsters.

OK, I've been playing this game for about a week now. Let me impart on you what I've learned.

1, when you move up to 2nd level and leave the beginners area. The higher duelist (around 5th-8th lvl) descends upon you like vultures.

2, the boosters’ packs have crappy cards. (Although you can increase the likelihood of getting slightly better cards by giving your opponent an "Excellent" rating. which (IMHO) defeats the purpose of the rating.

3, The Chat room edits your comments for you, You can't say things like Look, Good, Ass, Fuckwipe, and all the other fun insults you want to throw at some 8 yr old that just kicked you ass.

4, you can (and I have no idea how) trade in mileage points for really good cards. (Heck, I don't even know how to get mileage points)

5, you need the disk to start the download.

6, this is just a Beta version.

7, time limits suck, (not for me, I've always played with them, but to newbie’s. it has a habit of costing them the game)

8, Your score means nothing, The game goes by how duels you've played to get more choices of boosters, 2 to start, 3 at 60, and 4 at 200.

9, if you’re going to survive this game, you’re going to need allies. PM me if you want to join in mine.

That's about it. With my first ID, my record was 35 wins, 25 loses. However with the help of my allies, my new ID (which I created last night) just made level 2 and has a 10 win 1 lost record.

Feel free to ask about any part of the game.

You can't say "look" or "good"? What about "chair", or "pasta"?
