Your best/favorite fighter
Ever since I was a little kid I played video games religiousley. No genre ever came close to fighting games for me as far as playtime went. My favorite game of all time to play is Street Fighter, any super nintendo version. I realize that many great advances have been made in 2d fighters, but I gotta stick with the classics. The Tekken series has taken over as my favorite and most played series. Of course I playes Soulblade, and was delighted when it became the Soulcalibur series. The point is, I think that Tekken4 is the best, and with the impending release of Tekken 5, it won't get any better for another 5 years. I just want your opinion as to which fighter is your favorite. Discusions are fun.

Glancing at the title of the thread, I was about to respond with Miyamoto Musashi. After reading it and realizng what you meant, however, I think I'll say Bushido Blade on the Playstation.
|
Bushido Blade 2 is pretty cool with dual wielding fighters and sheathed sword techniques. It's not as open ended in the environments like Bushido Blade 1 is.
Tekken bothers me. I look at it and it feels like "dial-a-combo" to perform those 10 hit combos. Soul Caliber 2 on Gamecube is probably one of my favorites, mainly for Link. DoA series for their imaginative environments (kicking someone through a stained glass window, too cool). All time favorite? Hmmm, let me get back to you on that... |
hmm.. my favorite would have to be Guilty Gear X2 #reload
Awesome soundtrack, storylines, internet play, and a craazy combo system. Runners up: Marvel vs Capcom 2: lots of fighters, great combo system, highly exploitable Garou Mark of the Wolves: solid SNK gameplay, has Rock Howard in it (cuuuute!) Naruto Gekido Ninja Taisen: Great liscense, cell shaded, lots of replay value Honerable mention: UFC:Tapout - Just might be the most realistic fighter i've ever played; and takes some strategy to master. |
Wake up 6am. Brush teeth. Eat breakfast. Dial a number on the phone. "Can I come up?" I say. "Yes" the voice replies. I begin my journey up the the 14th floor from the 11th floor on a conquest to play Street Fight EX 2 Plusfor the PS, the best fighter on any console. After a good 6 hours of play our thumbs going numb we stop. Ah to be young(er) again.

Marvel VS. capcom is a great game. Play it all the time. Tekken is not so much dial a combo. True it has string combos, but they can be interupted easily, it is so much technique. Soulclalibur 2 is just a step ahead of every other 3d fighter, I just prefer Tekken. The guilty gear series is freaking awsome also. I just got into it too late so I don't play it often.

Best: Virtua Fighter 2, Favorite: Guilty Gear XX/X2 and Virtua Fighter 4
|
1. mk2
2. mk3 3. killer instinct |
Killer Instinct (SNES version)
MK: Deadly Alliance MK: Trilogy was awesome, too. |
I have played MK since the beginning. The new ones are graphicly and conceptualy awsome. They do lack the complexity of some of the better 3d fighters. I love playing them, but not as much as Tekken of Soulcalibur. Oh yeah, Killer Instinct for the SNES was a kick ass game.

Soul Calibur 2 hands down is my all time favorite fighter.
|
Virtua fighter series (Virtua Figher 2 specifically, and Virtua fighter 4 evolution is great too)
for 2d fighters, can't go wrong with Street fighter 2 turbo and the KOF games, I liked KOF 2002 the best. Andy bogard is my hero |
OMG I forgot totally about Killer Instinct when all this time my profile pic was of Glacius from the SNES version of KI. :|
|
Soul Calibur is just the best. 1 and 2. It's just a nice, complete 3d fighter. Although Mortal Kombat 2 was also pretty damn good.
|
I haven't played any fighter since Street Fighter 2, so I guess Street Fighter 2 is my favorite.
|
Tekken is way cool, Mortal combatentertainmed me for hours and hours...
also a game on PSx where you could use your environments picking up stuff and throwing it at baddies to beat em up...fun...dont remember the name tho..., something with an F... |
MK2 on Snes was rad, but so too was Super Street Fighter Turbo...
Snes is what it's all about. |
I'm going to have to say Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the ps. It's hands down my favorite fighter, good Capcom staples, 3 modes of fighting, and a bunch of little modes. But something about the new Street Fighter Anniversay Collection has me smiling from ear to ear. As for 3D fighters, Tekken Tag has always had a soft spot in my heart.
|
I'll admit... I'm a button masher. I can't really sit there and memorize long stings of combos and such. I don't know if it would really count but Power Stone 2 is my favorite just because I didn't really have to memorize any special moves and just picking up weapons and stuff was wicked cool. Super Smash Brothers would be second just because it's along the same line as Power Stone.
