Starting April 28, Extended Play is getting a face lift of sorts, and so far it is looking like it is going to be a good thing

More reviews, more interviews, and best of all, A NEW CO-HOST!!! Well, not exactly new, but it will be a dam good one "MORGAN WEBB". The same Morgan on the Screen Savers. MMMM.

"You might have heard about something called "X-Play." So what is it? And what happened to "Extended Play?"

Is it a new show?

Yes. Well sort of. We'll have a new name and even a new set (!), but it'll still be focused on showcasing the best of games and gamers. The name "X-Play" has nothing to do with "X-Men" the movie, nor will it mean we're doing only Xbox stuff, or fashioning ourselves as Gen X, or becoming X-rated.

Should I panic and run through the streets in my underwear?

No. Unless you're into that sort of thing anyway (If you do, send us some pictures).

When will it air?

The magic starts on April 28th at 11:30 p.m. Eastern. And, besides running in our current 4 p.m. Eastern time slot, we'll also be smack in the middle of the network's new late night lineup, at 11:30 p.m. Eastern. We're gonna run right after Martin Sargent's new show. As a late night show, we'll be able to put just a bit more edge into the show, and have more fun with the format. Rest assured that previewing hot games in development, reviewing the latest titles, and spending time with the people who make, play, and live for videogames will remain what the show is all about.

Why are you doing this?

Because we recognize that gamers just can't get enough. We'll be producing more episodes than ever, with more features, and more original content than we're doing now. We're even getting more staff, and hopefully some more reviewers! But don't fear, you're still going to have good ol' Adam up there yammering away... but now you'll see a brand-new set and a few new faces, including a new co-host, Morgan Webb.

We do hope to put a bit more fun into the show. After all, that's why folks play games, because they're fun. That's why they're called games.

So rest easy, fellow gamers, "Extended Play" isn't really changing all that much. We're just going to level up."

Now if only they would drop the crappy shows like Tomorrows world, Future Fighting Machines, Techno Games, Robot Wars, Thunderbirds, Big Thinkers, Beyond 2000, and those other shows that suck. Lets keep the Girls Gone Wild Paid programming...

They need to be replaced by a Pre-Recorded Tech help show so Some helpless souls can get some answers! I swear I haven't seen a live call answered in months.

Sara isn't bad as the new Screen Saver. But she is no Morgan. This means I have to PVR X-Play now too, just to see Morgan.

And I would second the notion for a show with Morgan and Sumi.

They also need a Mac & Linux show. Not 10 seconds here, 3 minutes there mixed in with the rest of the shows. Just a solid show for both.

I used to get TechTV with my normal cable service, but now my local cable company has dropped it or bumped it out. Guess there are too many redneck hicks around here and the ratings weren't good enough.

I also agree though that they need to drop some of these shows or at least show them way less. Also, was I the only one who liked Silicon Spin? John C. Dvorak always had something to say and the fact that they had industry folk talking was actually kind of interesting to me.

they moved Silicon Spin to 11 pm and everyone forgot about it. they need to move the repeat of the screen savers to 11 pm and move Silicon Spin back into prime time

Geez, I can't remember the last time I saw Silicon Spin, for some reason I keep thinking it was dropped around the switch from ZDTV to TechTV...

And am I the only person that likes Future Fighting Machines? I always enjoy when they get to the compairisons and they talk about how useless the French are.

I have to say I really think Morgan is overrated. She's not all that good looking and I'm not exactly impressed with her on camera persona. I'd rather have a go at Kat. That's a lively lass, that one.

THE VERDICT

The show... is it better?
It really depends. The reviews are still there. The humor is the same. Thats all that matters right?

PROBLEMS
The announcer guy. Whoever is doing the intro to the show needs to be shot. He has that Leo Laporte-Movie advertisement -I'm super drunk right now type of voice, and over does it by 700 percent. Kill him, and get someone else to do the voice overs. And i'm NOT talking about the voice overs over the reviews.

Eye candy. Plain and simple. I know, I Know, this was ONLY the first episode. Let me put it this way - She doesn't have a great voice for reading off a script. She's bearable, but its better to look at her than listen to her.

CAMERA WORK
They ditched the "pre-recorded Metreon" look. Now, they are trying to get that "We filmed LIVE for you". Heck, maybe they ARE filming live. What the hell do i know. But I can tell you this. It sucks.

OVERALL
It gives me what I want, but I don't really care for how it is presented. I'll give it a few weeks. thats what? 5 episodes a week. So they SHOULD get an idea of what we like.

I agree totally with the review. All I really hope to get out of this is new shows on a regular basis. I checked the website and it said friday's show would be a rerun. I hope that's just a friday thing and not them running out of episodes already .

I think Adam Sesler did, and continues to rule. I don't see what the problem is that ticks so many people off. Granted, he as a strange voice. But its bearable. Did you think Kate Botello (co-host number 1) has a perfect voice? No, she was a wee bit gutteral if anything.

well, it's hard to review with only 2 episodes but i will say I am very not impressed thus far. i am a big fan of Adam and Morgan's always be so-so cool but Adam is REALLY, REALLY annoying on this show so far. i've seen poodles on cocain less hyper.

5) take occasional questions.

like any specialty shows, they are hosted by people who can't act for a _reason_.

Yeah Adam seems to be acting like some retarded monkey making random jokes that aren't funny. I liked the old Adam in which he would be serious most of the time and add a joke in there which you had to think about. Now that was funny.

I do like some of the humor of the show, like Morgan's Batman review But it seems like they really dont like each other, or maybe its morgans lack of character that just doesn't fit well with adam's 55 cups of coffee.

I think I liked extended play a little better. I think they should raise the rating scale to 1-10 or 1-100 instead of 1-5. It seems like every game gets a 3.
