Oh shit it's Wayne Brady!

Playing Chrono Trigger

This isn't the first time I've played this game, but I want to actually beat it this time. After beating FF6 and FF7 sequentially, this is a good change of pace, even though it's still a Squaresoft game. I'm still at the beginning during the Millenial Fair. Spoiler: I didn't steal that guy's lunch, I returned the cat to that girl, I gave Marle her pendant right away, and I didn't agree to sell it to the weapons dealer, so I hope that will positively affect my gameplay later on. I'm trying to buy that sword that costs 4000 Gold from the weapons dealer, so I'm just spending my time fighting around the forest. It's good because I get to level up and collect tonics, also, but the repetitiveness gets pretty annoying. I can't wait 'till I have enough to buy the sword so I can just progress with the story.

Last time I played this game, I got pretty far, so I know I'm definitely in for a treat.

Chrono trigger is probally the best RPG of all time. If you get stuck though I would recomend the site www.gamefaqs.com, it is the best gaming information site ever made.

I've been using gamefaqs.com ever since I had WebTV. But thanks a ton for the link!

be sure to copy save games to the other slots so you can take the proper plot branches and not have to replay the game in its entirety to get another ending.

Chrono Trigger might be the best game ever made. It's easily the best RPG ever (even better than FF7 and FF10). If anyone here hasn't played it I definitely recommend giving it a whirl.

Well, Spoiler: Acting good at the millennial fair doesn't change a thing. You get thrown in jail even if you get a verdict of "not guilty." Damn.

But there are plenty of other places to change the plot. Spoiler: I've still never brought myself to leave Magus behind. He's just too cool.

Have fun!

Well actually Spoiler: although the outcome is different, the storyline is slightly different, and it is fun trying to win.. it also helps show just how evil the chancellor really is.

that other spot? Spoiler: Yeah I've only once not taken him along just for the new ending.. he's just too fun.

CT has been declared by many as the best game in the 16 bit era... period. I am one of them, this guy is quite simply pure sweetness.

Yes, my feelings on Magus should be clear although my friend and I always argue over whether it's pronounced may-jus or magg-us. Anyway, I wouldn't bother grinding just to get the 4k sword. You can do just fine in the game without spending additional time just killing monsters to get money or xp.

i'm betting it's may-jus.. like some kind of latin testosterony fireball chucker.. (see also magi, mage and magician)

it's definately one of (if not the) the best console rpg's ever.. though i must say.. it can't hold a candle to pc rpg's.. they are just so much cooler.. fallout will always be better than any rpg any console has or will ever put out.. period.

Too late. :-p Spoiler: I just got the bike key in the future ruins, and along the way from the Millenial Fair until now, I picked up two Lode swords in chests. Having the one I bought at the fair allowed me to sell both for the price of the one I bought, along with not bothering with equipping any other swords along the way.

I'll agree with you that CT is the pure sweetness, but FF6 wins the title of best 16 bit RPG for me on the merit of a much much cooler ending sequence (beginning with the final dungeon). Also FF7 edges out CT as well due to pure richness of story and quantity of crap to do. CT definitely rounds out my top 3 console RPGs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Spoiler: Isn't there a lode sword in the church when Glenn(the frog) helps you out for the first time? Go up the stairs and go to the upper left. There is a chest with a lode sword in it. Right?

I think I'm ashamed by the fact that I grinded so much that Spoiler: I got Luminaire during the trip through the tunnel to Magus' castle... so very early in the game

It's such a dominating tech.

That game ruled. I wanna go find and play it now...

And yes, it is very possible to avoid being jailed. (I don't know why this is a spoiler, the game is ten years old, if you haven't played it by now, you don't care)

If Dingo Jellybean doesn't know how to not get jailed, I don't think there is a way. It's just not possible to not get jailed. No matter what you do the Chancellor still thinks you are a douchebag and locks you up. I even got all not guilties at the trial and still got locked up...
