Ripsaw

This has been bugging me for the past few nights, and I'm hoping some of you know the answer. In the Fire Control room, which the Covenant have dropped their bomb off in, there is a switch directly under the MAC gun. As far as I can tell it has no effect, but it will still noticeably change state as you come up to it. Does anyone know what it does? I've explored the entire room for secondary switches, and I can't find anything.
