Gamecube or PS2 version, need assistance please with Christmas gift
My twelve year old nephew gave me his Christmas list which included Ty Tasmanian Tiger 2 Bush Rescue for PS2. My nephew has a PS2 and a Gamecube. I tried 3 gaming stores this past weekend and I found the Gamecube version but not the PS2 version. When I asked the "experts" at the stores about the difference in the Gamecube version and the PS2 version, I was given a look like I was asking where to find the bus stop to the moon. So, TFPers, I'm turning to you for help. Is there a difference in the two versions? Is one much better than the other? What is the difference? If I give him the Gamecube version when he clearly requested the PS2 version, will I be forever labeled the idiot aunt. Any assistance with this is much appreciated, in advance.

All of the reviews I've read have been identical for both versions, so I'm assuming that they are completely the same aside from the controls and slightly the graphics. The Gamecube tends to be just a tad bit sharper. It all depends on which control he prefers to play it with I guess. But as for your question, no not one is significantly better than the other, most people won't even notice any difference. He probably enjoys his PS2 more and prefers to play that version.

The gamecube typically has faster loading times (because the smaller discs can supposidly spin faster), but they typically take out the voiceovers because the gamecube has less storage space on the disks.
I personally prefer the gamecube controller. If you want your nephew to know that you purposefully bought the gamecube version, just give him a little note with the game and tell him your will take it to exchange it if he wants. |

For just in case you haven't attempted to find it online, I hope this helps: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/244191.asp
$19.99 is not a bad price tag
