Any other RPers? Lightninghoof is my main server (RP-PVP) and I would love the chance to rant about non-RPers on my server. I'll just save my typing, though, if there's no one else to sympathize with me!

I don;t know why people roll a toon on a RP server if they are not into it, I stick to my Normal and PvP servers(I got toons on 2 servers in case of a shut down on my main)

I don't get it either! There's got to be at least 10 non-RP servers for every 1 RP. A lot of people's reasoning when I ask on Lightninghoof is that it's RP-PVP. Apparently they are under the impression it's one or the other. They fail to grasp the concept of it being both at the same time.

I'm up to level 71 now, and I just finished saving up for a dual talent specialization.

As a priest, this is going to be a godsend. Now I can solo as shadow and run instances as holy. No more choosing between to two or just really sucking at one or the other.

okay... just finished the first 4 sections of 10 man ICC.. that was fricken fun as hell!!!! The airship battle was probably one of the most imaginative things I have ever seen in the game. They really are digging deep into the lore and into the game play of WC3. Totally awesome....

Well, its quite addictive-but I just got iced 4 times in a rowby Princess the Pig, so Im gonna give up for the night.

---------- Post added at 09:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:33 PM ----------

I also got fucked up once by a fishman, once by a bear, and twice when I was in the mine and the Kobbold fucks went three on one on me.

So in three hours playing at the beginners level I got murdered 8 times!

I did kill the pig twice by ganging up on it with another fighter so we could each slaugher one pig (Princess and her boyfriend) - but both times the other guy got the award. WhenI tried to battle them two on one they fucked me up!

Some of the quests I dont like. One I had to kill these bandits, but it took a long time cos half of them were female and I had to leave them to kill the male bandits.

Ah, another victim!

If you think it's addictive now, wait until you've played it a few more hours, or weeks, or days, or months....

You don't even know the half of it yet. Things only start to get interesting at level 10, and it goes up exponentially from there.

What server are you on?

Good question. Not all classes are geared toward beginners.

haha, Im the class anyone would probably guess

Human Paladin

They can do some magic, but it mostly seems to be healing or protection stuff

I am level 7 atm. No idea what server, whichever one the game put me on, Im doing a 10day free trial, so I guess an easy one. I read online that its best to try those pigs when you're level 10/11- so I'm gonna do the easier quests first and then come back and feed Princess the Pig to the worms.

It is quite addicting. Im still a complete beginner, so I dont know what a Paladin is best for - but it seems a bit of a jack of all trades master of none type of charcter, but I just wanted to be a mujahadeen!

Well, you probably chose a suitable class then. The common complaint is that paladins are overpowered.

You will basically be good at a number of things depending on your style. You can take damage, heal damage, deal damage, protect others, etc., depending on your set up.

Take some time to look up "paladin builds" to see how your talents work beginning at level 10.

I use wowwiki.com and talentchic.com for most of my information.

Just started playing again for 7 days (had a free 7 day trial). The game hasn't changed much low-level but dang it seems a lot different at 70+. Also, I see they haven't fixed the "everything is obselete and barren of actual people except for the 4 or 5 major cities" syndrome. I've run into maybe 5 people from level 1 - 11 so far on my new character...

Forgot how much fun the game can be. The graphics are really getting dated but they still get the job done.

I haven't played in 2 years.

Cyn, My friend and I just looked over that PUG Bingo and we've pretty much filled all three boards. Funny thing, I tanked an entire HTOC using my lance the other day with all guildies...

Anyway, Just finished tanking ICC 10man on my druid. It's quite easy and we 1 shot everything except Saurfang which we had to reset twice because we misunderstood the mechanics of the fight. It was very fun though.

btw.. http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/3...1709222044.jpg This is what feral druids look like on airship fight...

It's really not any worse for a druid tank in ICC. -20% avoidance is the same across the board. There was a lot of fuzzy math trying to say otherwise but I think it's been cleared up.

Im starting to think my man is a weakling.

When I see other fighters of the same level they all seem to do more damage than he does, and can take just as much. All his magic is weak ass healing shit, his hammer is weak... and somehow I have "linked" or "bonded" or something with a fucking shield... I taught him to be an apprentice blacksmith also, but I dont know how to make the guy make himself a better mace...

Still, I'm still ploughing on...

Welcome to the club! All of my characters are on Boulderfist too. If you need any help just hit me up. I'm on my druid named Dhol most of the time.

SF, Paladins tend to be slow early in the game. They do get stronger as they level though. You'll have a lot of utility and damage dealing abilities later on in the game.

True true, My druid went from 5mans to tanking ICC 25 in weeks without stepping foot in another raid instance on him. It's crazy. I remember early raiding, buying epics meant spending your DKP.

I don't think that it's that crazy. It becomes very apparent when you're playing that someone doesn't have raid awareness, class skills, and class experience. At least that's the experience I have when seeing pugs for 10 and 25 man raids.

Raid/PuG habits should be kept separate

I want my frost badges. At this point, I'm working on completing my T10 set (so close) and waiting for the gates to come down in ICC is so slow and maddening, I basically run the daily random every single day on my three dedicated Alliance side 80's (my Horde toons are again in a neglect cycle, my tauren cries at night when no one can hear) for primordial saronite and of course, that annoying Tier. Then of course the non-set gear that has crazy high armor on it to switch in for specific fights. And of course after that there's DPS gear for offset. So basically, I need a lot of emblems and ICC just doesn't provide enough running it on 10 and 25 weekly. Imagine me as a bitter old man sidling up to the emblem bar and yelling "Hit me!" at this point.

Last night I and a couple of guildmates signed up for a frost run and we ended up with two DPS and popped into Azjol-Nerub. I'd got myself a new fist weapon on my shammy and wanted to punch things in the face. Half way through the run, the healer sent me a tell asking me to inspect the DPS warrior we'd picked up. And yes, he was DPSing in Prot, with all of his talent points in the protection tree, in a mix of tanking and PvP gear. Yes, his DPS was low (I believe the proper phrase would be 'ridiculously low') and yes, he ran and pulled Hadronox instead of letting the person signed up to tank do it, and brought all the adds over as well. I was all set to blow a gasket at him, when I realized that this was a PuG. I'd never see the guy again. I was putting out enough DPS to cover for him, as was the hunter in the group. We burned down Hadronox, I briefly explained to the guy what the adds did, he apologized as this was all still very new to him and it was his first 80.

This led to a brief discussion while we were heading down to kill Anub'arak.

If you raid a lot, you get used to certain things. People are expected to be familiar with their class, their role, and the talents used to accomplish said role. You keep your gear for your main role current and also it's a good idea to keep your offspec gear current as well (you never know when you'll be switching). You know the fights as best you can. These are almost hardwired assumptions that build up into dogma over time.

They have no place in the five man random PuG.

I am not arguing that you shouldn't do your best if you're running a pick up group. I'm arguing that you have no reason to hold the other four people to a standard of play they haven't signed up for or agreed to. Clicking a role in the random window is not the same thing as filling out a guild application. A lot of these players are learning the game by playing it: it's not fair to assume they're reading theorycrafting sites and working their gear always with an eye towards maximum performance. The prot warrior in the run I just mentioned? He was a decent guy, picked up WoW last year, plays it when he's got time. He heard that Prot was OP for PvP so he went Prot, doesn't know the talents very well (he played some in BC but then they changed everything on him) and was very excited when I mentioned various sites he could go to for better information on spec and gear.

Not every 'bad' player is really a bad player. Some are just players. (Some of course are very very bad. Then again, there are very very bad players in raid guilds progressing through content. It happens.) These people didn't make any kind of commitment the way raiders are expected to just because they signed up to a random with you. Would it be nice if they knew not to stand in poison clouds or to know which attack they should be using in their rotation? Yes, it would. But going crazy and posting meters and ranting accomplishes nothing.

Also, to be honest, sometimes it's the 'elite raiders' that hold heroics back. Take, for instance, the DPS who brags about putting out 7k DPS in Halls of Lightning. First off, the mobs in HoL die so fast that the only way you're putting out 7k DPS is by attacking before the tank has even sneezed at them, which means the tank (often me) hates you with the fire and intensity of a thousand suns. Yes, I managed to pick them up with Challenging Shout and spammed every threat move I could even think of while desperately trying to generate enough rage to keep it up, thanks for the carpal tunnel syndrome. We don't need 7k DPS from one player to get through HoL. Secondly, that 7k DPS was only achieved because things died before other DPS could hit them, because again, you're attacking before the tank. You're not a good player because you put out more DPS than everyone else when you do it in this manner.

5k DPS and remembering where MD or Tricks are, using utility abilities, and waiting for the tank to pull is vastly preferred to going hog freaking wild, popping all your cooldowns as soon as they're up and otherwise being a jerk, much less then posting your hyperinflated DPS meter and waving it in the faces of the DPS you consider sub-par. This goes for tanks, too. I've been the tank putting out more DPS than the undergeared DPS in the run I'm on. You know what? Nobody cares. You're highly geared, that dude's using the quest axe from Zul'Drak. Cut him some slack, and in so doing, cut yourself some slack.

You are not there to police everyone else's gear, spec and playstyle. You are not there to have to micromanage every aspect of the game. You are there for emblems, maybe some gear, and frankly it's too much time and work to expect everyone you PuG with to play the way you do. You'll be happier if you just play, ditch when you just can't take it anymore (people would much rather wait for a replacement than listen to a tirade about how awesome you are) and wait out the time until your next. Or go do something else. People who sign up to a random didn't sign up for boot camp in your private How to WoW seminar. If you can't be helpful, at least be polite. Getting worked up over a random PuG just ends up with you worked up. You'll probably never see those people again. If you end up with a hunter who tells you he doesn't have MD because he hasn't been to a trainer since level 60, it's really not going to magically fix things to scream at him over it. If he'll listen to you and you can explain what he can do to improve, great. If not, let it go.

This is a lesson I struggle with: let it go. Your expectations of other players who you do not know, have never played with, and may never see again simply cannot be as high as when you work progression raid content or blood will squirt out of your ears and nose. It's messy. There's nothing wrong with trying to be helpful: if you see a player making a mistake you might have made yourself once upon a time you can certainly try and politely suggest ways they can improve, if they want to. But don't expect them to do so simply because you say so, and don't get invested in it: they don't know you either. They don't owe you any more than you owe them, their best effort to clear the run smoothly.

Trust me -- in the long run, your blood pressure will thank you.

Rossi posts that now, but if you go back and look at his other posts regarding his experiences with the random dungeon system, he's not nearly so refreshing. The guy knows his classes, but he definitely thinks about playing WoW at a truly unhealthy level of precision, and he's complained a number of times about people not living up to that level since 3.3 came out.

WoW.com is kind of grating on me these days. I've been a daily reader for over a year now, but some of their columnists and recent personnel changes are starting to wear thin.

I know I have like zero credibility when it comes to saying this game sucks ass, now that I've played it for years on end, and quit several times over. But really when you pull your head out of the ass that is "World of Warcraft" and look at it externally, you just want to go in to a fucking rage and strangle these mouth breathing retards for devoting so much time to writing posts about nothing, no end in sight.

I guess I still just have some pent up issues about this game and how it's seemingly stolen everything I held dear in my life from me, relationships, family, friendships, all of which were healthy, which quickly became deprioritized by people addicted to this game, instead of hanging out, movie nights, gettogethers, in person interaction, we're left as secondary objectives in their real life quest logs.

I just wish I could get my friends back sometimes.

the fact that this thread is 75 pages long should be very telling about how much of a priority it is to some people, that it's important enough to discuss in detail with your peers, because misery loves company.

Not trying to sound holier than thou, I'm sorry if I do. You all may have different perceptions on the value of your time and how that time is spent, but my priority is reality based activities and friendships. Because of that, I'm not raider material now. Thus the game lost it's appeal to me, because the end game is all about raiding and little else.

I beg to differ. I have a very healthy and active social life and still play a very good amount of warcraft.

I was at the theater seeing Rock of Ages on Sunday, after going to visit my aunt in NJ, the day before that was a birthday party also in NJ.

Tonight I had dinner in Long Island trying to generate some business. Tomorrow, I have another event to go to my MIL got us tickets to see James Spader on Broadway.

I raid 2 nights a week, that's it. I play when the rest of my time permits.

If anyone is on Garrosh, the Horde side. Drop me a hey. Would be nice to connect up with anyone from titled.
I've been using the dungeon finder for random LichKing dungeon 5man runs. Using the pvp que to run battlegrounds and stuff.
