We didn't get home until late, so I didn't have enough time to do much. I setup my dual spec, even though I didn't know what the 2nd spec will be. I also had to of course figure out which mods were broken. I don't really use many mods, so it wasn't that difficult.

And of course, I had to test out the new spec Suvival with the Black Arrow.

Time will tell.
Shouldnt rush your self to dual spec until you get the first one balanced.
One thing I noticed, you HAVE to take Black arrow to get Explosive shot, so methinks its used to compensate the hunters who don't trap-dance for LnL procs.

Secondly, when you do your 2nd spec, use it to play the other style you feel that will balance your style to a more complete package attractive for raids.

This is a new hunter spec I just made up and was thinking about trying:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

True Shot Aura - Check
Piercing Shots (Bleed damage) - Check
Aimed Shot - Check
Readiness - Check
Scatter Shot - Check
Wyvern Sting - Check
Expose weakness - Check
Thril of the hunt (mana regen) - Check

19% Extra agility from Lightning Reflexes + Combat Experience
AP bonus from Careful aim and Hunter vs wild + True Shot Aura + Expose weakness

the rotation would be:
Serpent Sting -> Aimed Shot -> Arcane Shot -> Steady Shot x2 -> Aimed... ect

Stack agi like crazy, just like surv.

Grab a wolf pet and spec like this:

Pet Calculator - Wowhead

Furious Howl is an extra 320 AP + Call of the Wild is an extra 10% AP...

if you are short on haste, take the one point out of wyvern sting and throw it into imp aspect of the hawk, then replace the glyph for the 2 sec reduction on aimed shot and use the glyph of imp hawk
Like this: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Someone want to try this out and let us know if it might work?

This spec would give you tons of crit, a huge amount of AP, and decent survivability from some of the surv talents. Not completely sure about the rotation yet, the timing might be a little off...

What are you planning to do with that spec? I honestly believe that Hybrid hunters, Especially MM/Surv is impossible to make competitive with current talents. Both specs rely too much on their 51 point talent. If you're really interested it how it would perform you should run the spec through the spreadsheet and see what you get. I would but my excel trial expired :P

I was wondering about that too, you have too much of your points all over the specs but not enough to help sustain damage in a talent.

Too much bells and whistles but not enough punch. You ARE going to have to nail 51+ points somewhere if you really to be able to take full advantge of the spec you choose.

you are both correct. There are too many top tier talents that I had to end up taking to actually be effective. But I have tried it out, and it does excel somewhere... PvP!

Scatter shot, Wyvern sting, aimed shot and readiness - crowd control overload!

You should have been Survival in 3.08 patch. It was so much better. Kill shot wasn't on the global cooldown so you could macro it to your shots, There was no Black arrow blowing your trap cooldowns. You only had around 47 DPS talents in the tree so you could get fun stuff like extra range or scatter shot and you only needed 51 points in the tree and you could spend the rest getting things like improved stings, aimed shot, or go down BM and get focused fire. I'm currently sticking with BM for raiding. I go survival only for pet unfriendly fights and for questing because the burst damage is still ridiculous.

I love that call stabled pet cooldown refreshes when you switch your talent tree

A GM responded to an issue that I had last night... it was rather strange but
Quote:
[04/23/2009]
19:14 [Styrend]: Hello Cynthetiq. I am Game Master Styrend here in regards to your petition. How are you doing tonight?
19:14 [Cynthetiq]: hi there
19:14 [Styrend]: Heya, really sorry about these long wait times Cynthetiq.
19:15 [Cynthetiq]: thank you, i'm a bit more forgigving about the long wait times, it's very frustrating in WG when the game is just lagging to the point on unplayability
19:15 [Styrend]: So I'd love to hear about this WG issue, since I am just a PvPer myself.
19:15 [Styrend]: Oh yeah I know exaxtly what you mean Cynthetiq. At my servers peak time it is really unplayable at times. All I wanna do is VoA!
19:15 [Cynthetiq]: beyond the lag, last night's game went to the wire. the horde defended to the very very end
19:16 [Cynthetiq]: the alliance pushed hard, and got into the keep and touched the relic
19:16 [Cynthetiq]: the announcement of the winner was strange
19:17 [Cynthetiq]: it announced that the alliance won, and then a few lines later it announced the horde had won
19:17 [Styrend]: Well I can definitely tell ya that we are more than aware of these lag issues and are doing our best to address it. It's just at this time we have quite alot of things going on >.<
19:17 [Cynthetiq]: some people were awarded 3 marks for the win, the others who got the loss, got 1
19:17 [Cynthetiq]: the next game was totally bugged, the portal didn't open
19:18 [Cynthetiq]: and then when we flew down there, the timer didn't start
19:18 [Cynthetiq]: I'm not sure how long the fight ws, but it was the most assault i"ve ever seen on WG, almost every single wall was taken down around the keep
19:18 [Styrend]: Wow
19:18 [Cynthetiq]: there was no end time to the game, so it kept going on, and on, and on
19:19 [Styrend]: So you think that it just never even re-built its walls from the previous wg?
19:19 [Cynthetiq]: that's a good question, i'm not sure
19:19 [Cynthetiq]: i just know that they had ample time to really work on the walls LOL
19:19 [Styrend]: Could there be anything that you may have noticed that made this occur?
19:20 [Cynthetiq]: the game before when it didn't make for a clear win
19:20 [Cynthetiq]: it was like both sides won
19:20 [Cynthetiq]: even though I didn't get the victory quest completed, we still had the WG buff
19:20 [Styrend]: Okay, one moment Cynthetiq I am going to report this.
19:21 [Styrend]: Have you had the chance to check out our bug report forums to see if any other players experienced this?
19:21 [Cynthetiq]: no i didn't even think of looking there
19:22 [Cynthetiq]: ah i see one that a friend of mine experienced with the inner keep wall not being breached bu there being a win
19:23 [Cynthetiq]: no i din't see anything with that same thing at all
19:26 [Styrend]: Omg!
19:26 [Styrend]: I see someone else saying this too,.
19:27 [Cynthetiq]: yeah I should have taken a screenshot but was so surprised that I totally forgot
19:27 [Cynthetiq]: i'm surprised that more people on the server didn't complain about it
19:28 [Cynthetiq]: we had like 3 full raids on alli side, i assume it was about the same for horde since there was no tenacity
19:32 [Styrend]: Well I made note of ALL the things you told me.
19:32 [Styrend]: I really do thank you for this.
19:32 [Cynthetiq]: thanks. hopefully it will lead you guys to understanding how it happened and how to prevent it from happening again
19:33 [Styrend]: You know anything helps, but I just appreciate you taking the time to include every detail with me. One day Cynthetiq, one day the lag will be gone!
19:33 [Styrend]: Can I help you with anything else tonight?
19:34 [Cynthetiq]: LOL one day. thanks, that's it. glad i could help.
19:35 [Styrend]: Thank you for the report and for playing World of Warcraft. May all your murlocs go,"bwrrhrhrrrrrrrelalalarrrarlaralarrhrrrra!!!" and may all your hits be crits! Take care Cynthetiq. */wave*
19:36 [Styrend]: Can you give us some feedback please?*about my awesomeness* For any comments or concerns about the quality of service provided by our Customer Support Staff, please email wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com.
I like the ending more than anything...

Finally got to do EoE for the first time over the weekend, that was a totally different and very unexpected. Wiped like 7 times but did finally get it done on 10 man.

well, for one, i'm getting so tired of all the DK's
I fully expected the initial population to have a lot and then trickle off, but it's been the opposite with my server, even throughout the nerfs there are more and more dk's popping up now. I'm probably one of the best geared DK tanks on my server but I simply just don't enjoy it at the moment. It doesn't matter what hybrid I roll, i'm always expected to fulfil some role aside from damage so i've been leveling some pure dps classes to get a feel for what I like. I'm enjoying my hunter again, Explosive shot feels a bit overpowered but meh, it's what hunters do.

They call the DK a hero class. I call them a "Timmy" class. You know, Timmy was always that kid you played games with who always had to have the most power and do the most destruction. Always. overdoing it. Always.

Tell me what DKs don't have.

Anyway, I found them boring to play. Just walk up and mash a few buttons and you'll be sure to take out all the mobs.

I'm coming from a priest, though, so the difference is pretty great. I guess I'm just a healer at heart.

Personally, in 3.2, I'm looking forward to the cheaper mounts. (I'm currently leveling.)

Upcoming Emblem System Changes | Raid | WoW Blue Tracker | World of Raids
Quote:
In the next major content patch we will be making changes to the current emblem currency system to give players more reason to run the content we have released already in Wrath of the Lich King and provide a smoother experience for players looking to reach the higher tier content. While these are still subject to change we wanted to provide information on the direction the emblem currency system is headed.

· Each of the 10 and 25 player instances of the Crusaders’ Coliseum will drop a new Emblem of Triumph.

· Any dungeons that drop Emblems of Heroism or Valor, such as Naxxramas or Heroic Halls of Stone, will now drop Emblems of Conquest instead. Emblems of Conquest can still be converted to Valor or Heroism in case you want those items instead.

· The heroic dungeon daily quest will now reward two Emblems of Triumph and the normal daily dungeon quest will reward one Emblem of Triumph.

· The existing achievements to collect 1, 25, 50, etc. Emblems of Heroism, Valor, and Conquest will be converted to feats of strength since Heroism and Valor will no longer be available when the patch launches.

· A new achievement will be added to collect badges in general. If you had 20 Heroism, 10 Valor and 35 Conquest, you would get credit for the “50 badge” achievement as your total will be 65 badges.

To further encourage players to participate in more 5 player dungeons, the Coliseum’s 5 player instance will drop Champion’s Seals. In addition, the drakes used in The Oculus for the majority of this dungeon will now scale with a character’s gear like the vehicles in Ulduar.

The end goal of all these changes is help minimize the growing gear gap that is causing a lot of frustration for players trying to experience the latest content as well as encourage players to continue running the dungeons that were previously released.
I'm all for whatever makes the content a bit more easily accessible over time. Keep it hard in the beginning for those that want the challenge.

silly thing is they're buffing dk dps even more

Death Knight (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

* Blood Plague: Damage done increased by 15%.
* Blood Strike: The bonus damage this ability receives from diseases on the target has been increased to 25% per disease.
* Chains of Ice: Now reduces movement by 95% instead of 100%. The main effect of this change will be that targets of Chains of Ice will not have to re-issue a movement command to continue moving.
* Frost Fever: Damage done increased by 15%.

Death Knight

* Death Knight T9 Melee 2P Bonus (Class: Death Knight) -- Your Blood Strike and Heart Strike abilities have a chance to grant you 180 additional strength for 15 sec.
* Death Knight T9 Melee 4P Bonus (Class: Death Knight) -- Your Frost Fever and Blood Plague abiltiies now have a chance for their damage to be critical strikes.
Death Knight T9 Melee Relic (Rune Strike) (Class: Death Knight) -- Each time you use your Obliterate or Scourge Strike ability, you have a chance to gain 200 strength for 20 sec.

however, all the tanking changes are a big "Fuck you" from blizzard.

2 seconds off a taunt that you shouldn't need if you're not retarded
and 20 seconds off a cooldown that they're adding a minute to?

yeah I think i'll just go enjoy those dps buffs and my guild can make the new warrior tank

Looks like they trademarked "Cataclysm" so all bets are on them announcing the next xpac at Blizzcon this August, suspected to be the Maelstrom expansion which revolves around the Cataclysm that took place at the well of eternity.

Nothing official yet but who needs official when you have a trademark?

from mmo-champion

Quote:
So ... What does it mean? Well, Wrath of the Lich King was trademarked a few weeks before the Blizzcon, we're not going to jump to conclusions here but WoWWiki will most likely give you a few things to think about on their Great Sundering article.

The Great Sundering, also known as simply the Sundering or the Cataclysm was a world event which reshaped Azeroth approximately 10,000 years ago at the end of the War of the Ancients. This event was triggered due to the Well of Eternity being destroyed.

Prior to the Sundering, there was only one continent on Azeroth, referred to as Kalimdor. In the catastrophic explosion, eighty percent of the land mass was destroyed leaving behind the major continents and scattered islands that are known today: Northrend, Kezan, the Eastern Kingdoms, and the remnant still referred to as Kalimdor.

The site of the Well of Eternity became a swirling vortex of power known as the Maelstrom.

A few days ago, one of our user also spotted a test server named "Maelstrom 3 Test" in the US server list (it only showed up for a few seconds, see This post). If the expansion is indeed The Maelstrom/Cataclysm, we can expect to see a few things here:

* Sargeras and/or Deathwing
* Azshara
* Goblins!

Compared to some games, WoW tends to be forgiving of sloppy play. I say this because I see people in their 60's who seem to have little idea of how to handle a fight and next to no understanding of how to function in a group. I might just be unlucky.

The DK just seems to cater to this play-style: can't find a smart, creative way to handle those critters? Just brute force it!

Friend of mine just started playing again, he just hit 77, trained cold weather flying, and we were headed out to HoL to lvl him up in the instance. Flying there, my NPCscan started going nuts, "Time-Lost Proto Drake Found!" SOAB, we killed it, and HE won the roll. /sigh

He can't even use it until he hits 80.

Ha, ha! Yeah, exactly. I'm just waiting for the patch where they give Death Knights stealth.

(Oh, and nerf priests. Again. :P)

honestly I don't get the big deal about DK's

Maybe it's because I spent the time learning how to play them, seems to me though that every dk i've come across on my hunter, I destroy.

They blow deathgrip, i hit wing clip and disengage, they spend 25-35 seconds unable to close the gap, consequently the same cooldown as disengage so i can do it all day long. They're extremely kitable. with the different snares some of the pets have too, I can usually stay outranged of chains of ice too.

against healers, they've got no MS type ability so it's perfectly likely that they can't out dps your healing on their own.

with the new resil changes coming up they'll be even more of a joke to shrug off as far as melee based utility goes.

DK's stopped bringing anything unique to the table the second they removed their hot removal utility.
