And so WoW has ended. Will you pick it up Tuesday?
I am still undecided. I'm the first to admit I love Warcraft and the whole universe involved within it and I had a blast the past two weeks. The PvE side of the game I think is well polished but has some things that need to be tweaked. I am a casual gamer and made it up to 26 with not much effort so this is a big plus in my book. I was really hoping for something more with the PvP though. I did have fun on a few solo and duo hunts but the larger scale battles need to have something more to them. A reason other than the honor system they talk about(I was only in OB so I don't know much about this) Everytime I did a large attack on the scumbag alliance we would just get a pack of about 30 and steamroll our way to the neareast town, kill the lower levels while waiting for the big boys to come in...either that or someone aggros a guard and you know how that goes. After they got enough backup it was just a matter of minor skirmishes..sure it can be sort of fun but what is the real point?
I got a few more good shots tonight also and figured had to share. Shootin' fish in a barrel...well Minor Infernals in a town..but you get the idea. I actually lived through all this. The thing about me is that I have a lot of good ideas. The problem is most of them suck. And uhhh...500? Proving that point. Final hunt of the night. 30 something Rogue. Had her at less than half health and on the run...my luck never was good anyway. I'll see you all in hell...or in retail.

Nice shots. Initially I was super gung-ho about getting WoW on release, but now that I have somewhat greater real-life obligations, I'm not so sure if hopping on an MMORPG is the best idea. My final decision will likely be based on whether some friends of mine will be buying the game.

I'm not sure yet. I've had a great time the past few weeks, but all of my friends are playing EQ2. That isn't going to totally affect my decision, but it's making me second guess myself as to whether I shouldn't give EQ2 a try. I've loved WoW so far, but it hasn't given me the same magic I felt when I first started EQ. Of course, 5 years might have something to do with that too. I think I'll probably buy it and play it for a few months at least. Beyond that, I can't say.

I'm definitely getting it since Blizzard hasn't even put the PVP system into the game yet. It'll be implemented after retail so we all have something to look forward to when we get high levels. I already have two copies preordered for my girlfriend and I. I'll post the server that our guild is gonna play on upon release!

I'm also not sure. I have finals coming up so I may wait untill begining of second semester. January 1st seems like a good day to start playing...easy to keep track of how much i've played.
But i think it's goign to be pretty easy to talk me into buying the game at retail.

I'll be buying it a bit after the release when I finish my makeup work from taking a long Thanksgiving break.

I am thinking about getting it for the wife, she love warcraft, but doesnt feel very confident with an online game. I dont think she realises just how good she is, and I think shes affraid she may get her butt handed to her. Any advice I could give her would be appriciated.

I kept going back and forth on it, debating if I would give up a lot of work invested in DAOC and the like.
What made me realize my decision was when I caught how much I was bubbeling about the game to some friends, about my experiences in beta. It's been a long time since I played an MMORPG that was just pure fun and didn't have all the stress and demands to it.

Yeah, this is the greatest MMORPG of all time, in my opinion... The level grind is practically nonexistant as long as you're curious and explore, since there are new quests everywhere... Add to that the great player economy via the auction house and well thought out crafting system, and it's just a great game...
The best part is that Blizzard has said they set the leveling curve quite low (comparatively) and plan on adding a lot of endgame content in the form of level 60+ raids to keep everyone entertained once they reach the level cap... |

I had fun with Wow in the closted beta. but after the open beta, it kinda changed my mind. I don't think I'll be getting it. It was fun at first(like other mmo) but after a while it feels kinda boring. Wasting so much of my time doing the same quests over and over again. Plus theres so many game I haven't got a chance to play yet like phantom brave and GTA:SA.

I would really like to continue with my NE Rogue, but I think Druid would also be fun to play... I was so close to reaching lvl 20, where I could fianally poison my weapons, but my professions I think held me back a little... I had to kill mass amounts of skinnable beasts to get enough leather and hide to make anything decent, that I was actually missing quests because I was just going around killing boars and wolves (and cows, and rabbits, and gnomes ) just to skin them... I will be there at retail, Night Elf something or other... Not decided yet...

I'm definitely going to pick it up as soon as I can. I'm still unsure what class/race to play, but I'm leaning heavily towards Undead Rogue. The only thing bugging me about that choice is I don't have any experience grouping as a rouge (only grouped as Druid in OB). I did plenty of pulling in FFXI, but I'm unsure how to do it in WoW, and from what I understand Rogues are depended on to pull safely.
I originally planned on being a caster of some sort, but Mage and Priest seemed too "cookie cutter", using pets isn't my style (not to mention they screwed up Infernal) for Warlock, and although Druid is a ton of fun to play at low levels, many people on message boards say that Druids can't cut it at high levels. As it stands, there are only a couple classes I could see myself devoting all my time to; Warrior, Rogue, and maybe Shaman. If none of those classes keep me interested enough to get to the endgame, then I hope Blizz has plans for future classes. I've heard rumors of Hero Classes that become available very far into the game, but those may just be rumors. I guess it remains to be seen how long I'll be playing.

BTW, Night Elf is the best race to play as Rogue, because they get a racial bonus to agility and dodge, and rogue damage is calcuated by Agility an strenth, unlike other classes where damage is only dictated by strenth (Warrior/Pally), or Intelegence (Mage/Priest) Not sure about warlock... those guys always freaked me out anyway...

Rogues are awesome, I think I will continue my rogue as well. I want to start a rogue only guild, and organise some mass pvp where we all sneak into the other faction main cities and go apey on all the NPCs. Do you know how awesome it would be to have 50 or so stealthed rogues running a muck in Orgrimmar? we wouldn't be there long, but the damage and confusion would be phenomenal!

our goal is to get 1000 peps on a pvp horde server to stand 1000m out from a city of the alliance and wait while they all freak before we all charge.. now that would make a good movie
