World of Warcraft Opening FMV
Man I was blown away. Mages get REPRESENTED baby. I got chill bumps. Has anyone else checked this out? Fucking awesome...
with that being said, what's some of your favorite FMV (full motion video) introduction cinematics in video/computer games? Here's mine: Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII (damn, damn, DAMN good) Onimusha 3 (like a movie!) World of Warcraft (just awesome.) Resident Evil 2 (mind-blowing action sequence!)

I just checked out the WoW Intro movie and was blown away. This is a seriously high-quality piece of art. DAMN! Redjake is right, Mages get their fame of desctruction lords in the FMV. It almost makes me want to make a mage at retail!

Once again, Blizzard amazed me with their awesome cinematic skills. My only complaint would be that they narrated for about 30 seconds, and then never said anything really again.
My favorite cinema ever would probably have to be the introduction to Starcraft: Brood War. The one where the ship leaves the men in the trenches. Last edited by The Magic; 11-06-2004 at 12:54 AM.. |

Thumbs down. While the quality was great it really didn't capture much of the game. There was neither mention nor show of the horde vs. alliance aspect of the game. The trolls and gnomes were left out. Finally it seemed that every time things were about to get cool the scene would change. Didn’t feel very epic nor did it get me excited.
Mages get represented? How? By showing the end result of a frost nova spell (never showed the cast) and then leave you hanging just as he was about to do something cool? Meh. |

Maybe you gotta like the game a lot to enjoy the intro. It was extremely epic and basically gave me a boner. The mage was fighting a 20 feet tall summoned Infernal by himself throwing fireballs towards it on top of a mountain, then used frost nova and started to cast blizzard. I think that's pretty damn cool. I don't see how anyone could not love that intro. It captured the feel of WoW perfectly. -Lasereth

The entire video was about Horde vs. Alliance! Did you not even pay attention? And the mage was fighting a summoned demon on top of a huge cathedral-looking structure, hurling fireballs and the such into its face. And at the end he cast Frost Nova and started to cast Blizzard, with a manic look in his face. Fucking awesome......
and you could see the pain and torture in the undead warlock's face, but grasping hold to the comfort that his demons would never betray him I think the reason they changed the scene "right when it was getting cool" is to show suspense and make you want to play the game. I just don't see how anybody could not like the video. I guess if you were in a bad mood or something.

Did anyone else notice the mage and the inferno kinda gave you a lord of the rings feel. Maybe just me but I still loved it. Just got my Nvidia 6800 gt and the new SB audigy 7.1 and damn that was some tight s#!+. Was great I got goose bumbs to. My fave was when the nightelf druid was running then turned into the saber was nice.

Blizzard's cinematics have always given me hard-ons. They just get better and better with every game. WC3 had some fuckin awesome scenes... Grunt vs Human, entire orc army running over the hill, etc. I wasn't even expecting this video when I downloaded the new beta client and I nearly shat myself with glee. Too bad gnomes and trolls weren't represented though. I'll just pretend like they're waiting to splice in those clips for the release version!

The best openning scene ever though is Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War. The same people really need to make a full length movie of that caliber.
