War Craft Stress Test/Open Beta

Wow I suggest you wait a while before trying to sign up. After two hours of frustration here's what I've accomplished:

1. Payed 24 dollars for two subscriptions (one will get canceled a soon as support gets back to me)

2. Can log into gamespy, but I have no access to the download yet.

3. Have heard nothing even confirming my paid for subscriptions.

4. World of warcraft.com is intermittently down

5. Support pages for gamespy and fileplanet it are both down.

6. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

There's probably one million people (literally) visiting the websites you guys mentioned. They're down because way too many people are trying to visit them.

As Las said they're under a ton of stress. Wait a bit and you should get the emails from gamespy. You need to confirm your account in a second email they will send you. This is probably where the backlog is and I figure it'll be sorted out in a day or so.

Fileplanet seems to be catching up slowly. I just got my verification of acceptance into the ST/OB. Just waiting for my key now.

I signed up for the free fileplanet thing but I guess that's not enough to download the client? I have to pay 16 dollars to download the client?

But wait spunk! after you pay the 16 bucks you wait indefinitely for them to send you a conformation email so you can activate your account. After that, you have to wait for the download to actually work....

/still haven't gotten my confirmation email 4 hours and counting...

Just wait for the final to come out, theres nothing special about beta testing stuff. You cannot tell people about it without breaking the contract of testing.

There's no NDA on WoW. Also, I've never heard of an NDA for any game during an Open Beta phase. It would simply be too hard to enforce. The rush to play open beta is simply that. You basically get to play the game before it comes out.

I'm wondering the exact same thing. I think on the WoW site where it asks if you're a new tester, it's for emails they have already sent out. Hopefully the sign-ups will be back up soon.

If you go to fileplanet, it says it starts next week, only file planet subscribers can sign up to play early. Luckily I have a previous beta account, I just need to find out where to DL it at!

Read the WoW front page guys! Open Beta is gonna start soon (Blizzard said probably within 7 days). Open Beta signups will start a week from now on the WoW main page.

Open is soon, but since I had an account previously I should be able to get into this stress test immediately. But I can't for the life of me find where to DL the program.. :-P

Yeah, this is really dumb. Blizzard has no link to the download on their main site. Only thing you can do is create a new account. Fileplanet will jerk you around trying to get 8 dollars from you but won't provide anything for the 8 bucks. This is very annoying.

Still wondering if it's worth subscribing to FP. I'm really in no hurry this week, but I'm wondering if it's worth it simply to assure a spot in the Open Beta just incase they decide to drastically limit the number of people they allow in it.

I think FP is worth it. I got into the WoW first ST, this ST, Matrix online. Warhammer and if I had really cared to, the EQ2 beta. This plus the fast dl speeds makes it worth it for me...

I finally got into ST for WoW.

I am so shocked at how good a job Blizzard did.

Just the opening movie was worth the 7.90 and two days of wait.
