Heh, Battlespire. *ralph*

Thome and Whocarz got it right. I really lamented the "shrink" from Daggerfall - Morrowind. You say in Arena you could travel the entire continent? That's crazy. I thought Daggerfall was staggeringly huge, albeit every dungeon was the same. As was every small town. But still, they were there!

lindseylatch 03-08-2005 03:58 PM

Man...This kindled my love for Morrowind...
Which i intially completed with the help of those lovely online guides... :P

I downloaded from torrentspy a 20 minute video of GAMEPLAY that is apparently from this past E3.....WOOOOOOOOOW!!!

If you haven't seen this video, you should seriously check it out. It's absolutely amazing to see it all in action! (Not to mention the few issues I did notice, such as skipping every now and then, will surely be fixed between E3 and this winter's release)

alansmithee 10-16-2005 07:00 PM

This game alone may make me pick up an Xbox 360, unless the computer specs are something my machine can handle. I probably put over 300 hours total in Morrowind on my Xbox and later my computer. I could never get enough of that game, its like an MMORPG w/o all the assholes.

SecretMethod70 10-16-2005 08:53 PM

With how much the XBox 360 will cost, you could probably just as easily upgrade your computer instead ;)

Slyboots 10-17-2005 09:49 AM

That game makes my PC cry.

I think I'm going to have to get it for xbox360. There is no way in hell my comp could handle it.

BTW, anybody hear about it getting pushed back until december?

That would be funny if it weren't true. $400 will get you a top of the line graphics card that can handle anything you throw at it. It won't the best graphics card money can buy, but it will be pretty damn close.

By the way, that gameplay video was fucking unreal.

It saddens me to say that I read that just last week they pushed the release from launch to early December.
While i am glad they are fixing problems (I hope) I was gonna buy this on launch day.

sigh

dtownzj00 10-18-2005 09:25 PM

This game so awesome hopefully they will improve marrowind's weaknesses.

FilthyHippy 10-21-2005 06:30 PM

I played morroweind on XBox. But my disk got messed up when I was near the end. I dont think my system has the specs to play Oblivion.

FilthyHippy 10-21-2005 06:33 PM

The thing that impressed me the most about the TES games were the easter egg features like vampirism and lycanthropy or stubling across covens in arena. In morrowind it was liitle things like the Comfy pilow quest that changed your sleep message.

Dragonknight 10-22-2005 09:17 PM

So has any one actually beaten Morrowind? I've played for countless hours and have gotten no where close. Granted I haven't played to just beat the game but, wow it's long. I hope to see the new game though. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to play.

nukeu666 10-23-2005 02:40 PM

im one of the many who completed the main quest along with a lot of the side quests
i expected the final battle to be tough but it was easily copmleted with a few spells and my enchanted sword

tecoyah 10-23-2005 03:47 PM

I remember beating it and becoming....well....pretty much God. It was kinda fun to go around and Kill every person/guard/merchant/dancer...I could find.

Gabbyness 01-19-2006 09:41 AM

Wow, those are badass.

Does anyone have an updated release date for this puppy?

Destrox 01-19-2006 09:59 AM

Last I heard was march'ish

:(

Ok, that nighteye spell looks insanely badass!

I need to play this game asap.

Plaid13 01-19-2006 01:23 PM

I have been bouncing off the walls waiting for this game. if its anywhere near as big or in depth as morrowind its going to be great. seen some of the videos on game play and the AI just looks insane. cant wait for it.

Destrox 01-19-2006 02:24 PM

I may be forced to upgrade my computer just to play this game

Xiangsu 01-26-2006 03:10 PM

Has anyone seen the trailer for the video: the making of Oblivion? I think I may have to try for the collectors edition.

bookerV 01-30-2006 01:00 PM

Well seeing as how I have recently come into an Xbox360 I am now once again EXTREMELY excited about playing this game. This is definitely the MUST HAVE on my list right now.

NeverBorn 01-31-2006 06:30 AM

I already have mine reserved, most likely the collectors edition. If its anything like morrowind I expect to lose days of my life.

If you aren't too computer savvy, you can go to this web page, and it will scan your computer and make a list breaking down your different components, what meets specs, and what doesn't:

The trailer is up on Xbox Live Marketplace. It's the same trailer that's been around for a while, but seeing it in full-screen high def is nice.

If you want any other information, such as interviews & previews, the forums at elderscrolls.com are a good source (though be warned people there are crazy). Also Planet Elder Scrolls is a decent place. You can google it.

bookerV 02-24-2006 07:58 AM

Personally I cannot wait for this game. It is definitely going to occupy me for a good chunk of time. I have been waiting for a good console RPG for a while now and the anticipation just keeps growing...

Reese 02-24-2006 01:06 PM

I don't know if I should get this for x360 or PC. I didn't like Morrowind on the Xbox because the controls were funky, especially since I had already played the PC version. The xbox 360 is more powerful than my PC though.. I think I'll wait a day or so until I find out if the xbox controls suffer. I'd rather lose a little image quality than have to do complicated shit with a controller that done much easier with a mouse and keyboard.

Nikilidstrom 02-24-2006 01:25 PM

as far as image quality, the xbox maybe more powerful than your comp, but your monitor probably has much better resolution then your TV.

Dont forget, patches, modifications and all sorts of other PC only features.

Gabbyness 02-24-2006 02:26 PM

Patches/mods make it far and away better for the PC, in my humble opinion.

Briz9 02-24-2006 09:18 PM

Actually, if Bethesda releases any patches, Xbox users can get them from Xbox Live. Also, there will be official downloadable content available on Live for Xboxers (PC users can get them too). So the only thing Xbox version is missing is the player-made mods & the Construction Set.

If you're wondering what the difference in visual quality will be, the developers keep saying that the PC version with max settings is equivalent to the 360 version. Of course, the PC version gives you a lot of options to tweak so you can get it running just right.

As far as controls are concerned, I never played Morrowind on Xbox so I don't know what those were like. For the 360, I know you can assign up to 8 items or spells to the D-pad, so you can quickly switch weapons or spells or take a potion, etc. They've also said the controls will be fully mappable. You can even switch the function of the thumbsticks for the Lefties.

Apparently there is going to be a huge media explosion on Oblivion at about 12:00am PST Feb. 25th. Evidently Bethesda had required a bunch of media not be released until that time. From what I've read on the official forums there should be new videos, screenshots, podcasts, etc.

Here is the post on the official forum that has a bunch of links:

Those "recommended" system reqs are pretty damn high... but I guess that's normal, Morrowind had some pretty high reqs for it's time too. I'm more looking forward to bethesda's fallout game, personally, but from what I;ve seen of oblivion, it looks pretty good.

Gabbyness 02-25-2006 07:31 AM

Briz,

Well, you sure showed me! That's some pretty cool jazz.

Hehe. Well it still kinda depends on if you expect to use a lot of player-made mods. Some people can't live without them. Me; I never really used any player-mods in Morrowind, so I think I'll be content with the Xbox version. But it's all personal preference.

Oh, and I almost forgot the construction set. It's a must for anyone that wants to mod, whether it be a large scale mod they distribute, or just 1 item they make for their personal use, etc. I don't have the patience to learn how to make decent mods. Besides, I'll be too busy playin the game :D

Xiangsu 03-02-2006 01:37 PM

They just released the release date. March 20th baby w00t. Also, if you get a chance, the best video of Oblivion is on IGN. Its called gameplay footage. Just a few weeks left guys.

Same here, except they should be sending mine in the mail. I ordered it from ebgames.com. I did select 5-10 day shipping. Sadly, thats probably 5-10 days from the release date and I got an extra week to wait.

Its ok though. I got The Movies and Fable to play...and I am right at the end of DMC3
