How many of you have forcibly broken a controller?
For what systems?

When I get really really pissed at a game I don't break stuff that I have to pay for to replace. I just hit my leg or hit a pillow or swear a helluva lot. Something free that is still good for stress relief...

I did break it technically, but it was more of a "rip it apart and make a usb pc joystick/free action replay" type thing.

I used to break all sorts of controllers from atari 7800 to ps1. When I threw my ps1 controller at the ps1 and broke both, I decided to learn a little anger management.

I've never actually broken a controller in anger ever. I usually turn the system off before I get that mad. I HAVE broken a computer desk by smashing my fist into it (whoops).
I have a friend who throws controllers at walls all the time when he gets mad. I think he's settled down a bit lately (he recently broke a PS2 controller and couldn't afford to replace it).

i have broken a PC controller before.. It was one of the ones with dual analog.. I put too much pressure on the analog and broke it off so it spins in place.. It still works, but for what I was playing I could no longer use it since my thumb would slide off (Tony Hawk).

I've never gotten so mad that I wanted to destroy any controller. I've gripped one harder in anger, but never gone all out and broken one.

Atari 2600, and not out of anger. It's hard as a kid to get mad when one of the blocks misses another block, while the block from the other player hits your block. I probably went through 10 of those controllers. Poor quality, even for the '80s.

I've got a buddy that messed up a ps2 controller, in anger over the original midnight club street racing. he had a habit of punching the controller when the races didnt go as planned or the computer cheated him. i also actually bought a cheap 3rd part x-box controller that was broken right out of the box (on of the analog sticks was messed).

They break themselves! Even as a kid I was a bargain shopper and would get the cheap ass controllers and they always broke- like 3 on my genesis and one on my 64. I got pissed on BF 1942 about 6 mo ago and took it out on my joystick.. I just don't fly planes or helo's anymore :P

I used to pound the tar out of my NES controllers with my fist, but I never managed to break one. Those were well made controllers. I had a friend who used to swing them by the cord and rap them against the radiator. The graphics on the front all peeled off, and the plastic had huge gashes in it, but those suckers still worked.

I've broken, in anger, at least one controller for every system I've ever owned. There's something cleansing about smashing an offending controller to death when you are super frustrated.

I've done some really stupid stuff with my controllers, such as throwing them at the wall, throwing them at my older brother whenever he would "cheese" by cornering me in Street Fighter 2...I even hit my brother on the noggin with my Mario Paint mouse (albeit it's not something I'm proud of). But in all that madness, I've never actually broken a controller.

Opps, I voted before I read "forcibly" I've never broken one out of anger, but I have tossed a few.

I have been through a ton of controllers though. Unofficial Controllers are the worst ever! I've been through 3 xbox and 5-6 PS2 unofficial controllers. I'm still using the official ones though. note: I've only bought 2 unofficial controllers new, the others were just given to me or bought with a used machine, I'm not stupidl enough to buy another

I prefer not to break them. They are pretty expensive!
I am quite calm though, rather than get angry, i usually just turn the game off and go do something else. My friend gets so angry when he can't do a section.. could be why his controllers are on the dodgy side and why he's had some replaced.

i have broken a couple playstation controllers over years usually out of frustration for not getting a certain task done in a game ...
i smash them to the ground so usually the vibration doesn't work no more i then get this weird little shock then i know i busted it
i have the mention the x-box controller is better for throwing stuff around it's more sturdy ...

In your list, is the Xbox 1st party the original big controller? Is the S basically the same? I have both.. but i don't tend to break anything.

Computer gamepad that deserved it even without my anger.

I never broke them to the point of not working, just a crack here and there.

Except recently it was a mix of personal outside issues, test, stress, and a golf game gone horribly bad. Yeah.. that ps2 controller simply has no "vibrate" ability anymore.

I have anger issues, but oddly enough they only happen from games. Real life situatiosn never prompt me to even think about physical retaliation. I guess its because its somthing I bought, and its my problem if it breaks.

I never got pissed enough to break a controller. I would be more pissed if I have to spend another $20 on a new controller.
