Where is GTA: SA?
I am not sure if this is old or not but what happened to the GTA SA posts and if there was one to begin with. I think this game is going to be the most anticipated game of all time and might as well be game of the year. There is about 18 days left till release and I'm really looking foward to get. Heck I even pre-ordered it during the summer because I know it will be good.
Any thoughts, info, or goodies please post here. |

I am pretty sure it will be fun and a good game, but Game of the Year? Why? I don't understand. It's already been done, four times by Rockstar, and many more by other companies. Game of the Year belongs to something that brings a little more diversity to games, and isn't just about killing cops and chilling with homies. What kind of image do video games get when we glorify these games that have you murdering cops? Making it Game of the Year will just bring more unwanted negative publicity to the gaming market. Video games are already in hot water with parents and most of the public.
Nonetheless, I will still buy and play the crap out of this game because I love the series. I also love video games in general though, and I don't think this game should be Game of the Year, by any self-respecting magazine or website. Maybe my mind will change when I play it, but for now, that's what I think. |

Why will it be a good runner for game of the year? Because, millions of other people will buy and play the crap out of this game because they love the series also.
Every time i think of GTA, the first thing that comes to mind is a fun game to play. I think of the cool stories, and crazy characters. Awsome gameplay, and great non-linear experince. I play GTA for all those reasons. The last thing to come to mind is the Killing of cops, prostitutes, and other people. I don't really think of those things till people bring them up.

Maybe those same parents should take on the responsibility of raising their kids and read a fucking rating lable every once in awhile. Or if the kid bought it without them, then take some interest in his/her life and find out what they are playing /watching and judge whether or not it is appropriate for them. Its called parenting, and we used to know how to do it back in the day.

I agree and I do believe parenting is important on whether if the game should be played by a minor or not, but this is nothing more or less of a game. Games give reality a break and being able to do fun things. nothing like coming home from a hard day of work and being able to just ... play.

I doubt it will be game of the year, considering its basically the same game as its previous incarnations with a few tweaks and additions. Will it sell? Definitely, especially with all the casual gamers who are so fixated on violent games. Game of the year? Doubtful, only in PS2 fanboy's minds. Half Life 2 and Halo 2 will duke it out for that title.

like GTA: SA is to GTA 3 They all have a equall chance of being Game of the Year. Its just a older title being ramped up, adding features, More/Different characters, and new stories. Same thing with Half Life, unless they put the game in a completly different engine, like making GTA a FPS, or vise versa for Halo2 or HL 2. They are all basicaly doing the exact same thing. Take your old game, make it Higher poly, have better textures. Revamp the old engine, add a few new features. Then presto a new game that people will think is completly different. All these games are now a days are just clones of their origonals, just with face lifts, and some botox. All the 3 of these games have a equall chance for any magazines or website's Game of the Year. Show me whats Revolutionary about Halo or HL that GTA isn't doing the same in their own respects.

I can't wait to play this game.
I won't be playing it til Christmas break though. I'm afraid if I buy it, I won't be able to study or go to class, and will be forced to promptly drop out of school.

Too bad there isn't a Game of the Year title for each console because then, I think, it should be fair. Having different consoles limits their ability to make a good looking game. Halo is a great game with good graphics and has lots of stuff in it. It's all because it's for the xbox and PC. I doubt that the PS2 would be able to do that, but that's why there are PS2 games that are awesome for their gameplay and storyline. Such as GTA:3, GTA:VC, MGS2, and some of the Final Fantasy series. Now the new Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas is going to lift the bar higher for this genre in the PS2 and I believe that it should be judged against other PS2 games instead of other consoles.

I cant wait for this game either. Each new one out does the last by leaps and bounds. Now they say this one will have a map area 5 times greater that the Vice City one? That rocks. I still play VC often just for the hell of it. I have beat almost ever mission on it, but it is still fun.
Can't wait for some new scenery. Game of the year though? Officially, probably not. But in my mind? It's already there. |
