Burnout 3. Anyone picking this up?

Burnout 3 will be in stores tomorrow (9/8), and already has received stellar reviews from online and magazine reviewers.

The game is online, and reviewers are saying it is much improved over it's previous versions.

Reviews of the game can be read at the following sites:
  • IGN (9.5/10)
  • Games Radar (9/10)
  • PALGN (9/10)
  • Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it a rating of 9.17/10

The game is being released for both XBox and PS2. The reviews above are for the XBox version, but the PS2 version is apparently able to hold its own in terms of feeling of speed and particle effects.

If anyone gets this game, or is considering getting this game, feel free to post your comments, reviews, or anything else related, here.

Take care.

After I've heard a few reviewers call it the game of the year so far, I'll most likely pick it up, even with a Gran Turismo 4 release on the horizon. Hell, one of the IGN reviewers said it might be the game of the year period, on top of San Andreas, Metroid Prime 2, Halo 2, Half-Life 2, etc. If a racing game is THAT damn good, then it must be enjoyable. The only reason I'm not considering it is my backload of games I've to play already.

I’m in the same boat as you are in terms of having a back load of games that I need to play. Man, I have skipped out on so many games, some including sequels, that I have wanted to play. Off the top of my head I can remember, NoLF 2 ( I loved 1), Hitman series, Thief series, Silent Hill series, Far cry, DooM 3, and plenty more I would just love to try. Currently Madden is taking up all my videogame time as I have become completely obsessed. When I bought Madden I was about 3/4 way through suffering but than Madden took over and I have not played The Suffering since...shit, I think I even forgot the controls and story (or lack thereof). Oh well.

On topic though, I have only played burnout 1. Although I thought it was nothing extraordinary, it was a decent rental. The only major problem I have with it is the accidents are not realistic. Even though the rave reviews are for supposed physics, I still don’t buy it. How can a car going 200mph head on into another vehicle not get torn to shreds? In burnout, they only have a little fender bender and broken glass. Aside from that though, it is a decent game, just not all its cracked up to be, I can’t speak for 3 though.

Meh. I wasn't really a fan of Burnout or Burnout 2, they were okay for a few minutes, but then they got really boring and repetitive. Sure the crashes looked nice, but so did J.Lo in Gigli.

Burnout 1 and 2 also got mediocre-to-slightly above average reviews. This game is getting stellar reviews...judging games based on their previous versions will leave ya in the dust on some good games!

I am definately going to give this one a try - I simply love the concept of the game - nuthin' but crashes... and with the amazing reviews it has been getting, I need to give it a whirl.

My son is begging me to get it. I'm not so big into the racing type games, but I'll play it. With the reviews, and the whole premise, it must be good!

I've been playing it for almost a week now. One of my favorite racing games without a doubt. All of the negative reviews I've heard were from people who were huge fans of 1 & 2. It seems that their main problem is that it's not much different from those, which isn't a problem for me since I've never played them. But, like I said, it's awesome game.

I think it said I completed 92% of it already. Everything is fairly easy except for the races you go against the clock, especially when you're driving the Formula 1 car. That think is insane with the boost.

It's hands down worth the money. I bought both Burnout and Burnout 2 but now own neither, however Burnout 3 is a keeper. It also more than makes up for another recent extra craptacular driving game that was third in a series.

This game is seriously worth the money. After having a nice long marathon play, something I haven't done since GT3 first came out, I found there were things I hadn't even bother with. The Road Rage sub-game is so damn fun, it just blows me away.. I constantly find myself flinching at on coming traffic, but cheering out loud when I push someone into a bus or something. I could go on for a while, but my Jack in the Box is waitting, and Burnout 3 can't play itself.

I don't own any consoles, but my friend has burnout 2 for his ps2, and we all love it. I have already told him about 3 and will play it as soon as he gets out and buys it.

Great game to play with a bunch of friends.

I love burnout 2's crash game mode. It let my little brothers play a racing game with me and actually have fun doing it. And so far, all I've heard is how this game is so much better than the other ones, I'll just have to pick it up tomorrow and forget about my nasty physics work!

Yep. I'm addicted. I played about 25 races today (I raced until I got Golds on all of them). My thumbs are sore and I have a very good sense of satisfaction from wasting people on Road Rage mode. My high-score is 19 now! This game is like watching a high-budget action movie. My friends just sat there and watched as we took turns taking people out in Road Rage mode. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

Ha ha. I just got done playing for the day. I have ten hours on my file and about 65 gold medals (I don't just go on, I get gold medals on every race before I continue). I can't get enough of the Road Rage mode...I still go back to it to get a good laugh. My roommate actually watched me play with interest for about 5 hours in a row. This game is so awesome that people can WATCH others play for 5 hours and not get bored.

PS: My thumbs hurt very bad. And my index finger.
