PAL/NTSC PSX accessory compatibility?
I finally bought an American Playstation on eBay, and some FF titles. When I moved to the States I took my European Playstation with me, along with a bunch of European-published PSX games. However, with our TV set not supporting PAL, I've had to play FF7 via my computer's old WinTV card. What sucks about that is that the WinTV card could only capture @ 320x240, with lousy PAL support, so when you blow it up to fullscreen, it's pixelation galore. So I've been playing Final Fantasy games in this small window on my computer display. It, to put it mildly, blows dog.
Feels kind of dumb to have to purchase all the FF titles AGAIN, this time in North America versions, but I'm enough of a nerdish pasty fanboy to cough up the dough for such a good cause. Here's the question, though... Anyone here know if dual shock controllers and memory cards sold in Europe are compatible with NTSC PSX consoles? I know the memory card data isn't, but if I wipe the card, will it work? Ooh, finally I can play FF Tactics in actual colours, too. I have an NTSC release of FF Tactics (I don't know if they ever released it in PAL) and with a European PSX, I could only see light greyish green and grey colours...no red at all, for instance. I thought the game was supposed to look that bleak, until I saw some screenshots. Anywho. I doubt this banter interests anyone, so I guess that's it.
