Rome:Total War demo

Anyone here downloaded it yet?

I'm a HUGE fan of the Medeival Total War series and was looking forward to this with bated breath. I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed. Seems very arcady to me. Everything moves too fast, the units shout stupid childish phrases... It's been dumbed down and I'm gutted...

I don't know, I rather enjoyed it. Of course I never played Medieval so I don't have anything to compare it to. At any rate, I'm more exited about the campaign map than the actual 3d battles.

I agree that it was dumbed down. The units yelling their names like some kind of fucked up pokemon made me cringe. I also agree that the units move too damn fast, and I hate the neon green triangles at the base of a selected unit. I want the old banner poles back, damn it. Still, I have to admit I'm impressed with the graphics. Very cinematic. I just hope that they change a couple of things before it goes gold.

I downloaded it last night and have played around with it a little. I think I actually like watching the computer more than I like playing myself.

dl it. real impressive looking. i loved midevil and this seems just as good but looks way better. nothing else really jumped out me to show it is really different from the first, but it only showed the battle sequence and not the campiagn screen so there might be changes in that.

oh, and i agree about the green triangles. suck
