Still play Unreal Tournament 2004?
I bought Unreal Tournament 2004 about 4 months ago... I think it's a pretty awesome game, but I find I haven't played it nearly as much as I used to play the original Unreal Tournament. I think this is because of their stupid 20 digit number you have to have to install the motherfucker. I've got about 4 computers in the house, probably 3 of which would run it alright, but I can't justify spending an extra 50 or 100 dollars so my friends can play when they come over. The first one was so cool, just install it, apply the patches, and blam! you didn't even need the cd to play it any more; no codes or anything.

you dont need the CD to play UT2k4 either.
|
Yeah I play on occasion, but only on a friends private server for the most part.
I've never been one to play on public servers unless I have no other choice. |
Theres something great about playing on a LAN with everyone in the same room. Very satisfying to yell at each other.
And I actually seem to be able to play there. Last time I played games at a LAN, I pwned the best UT2K4 player there--I played with him once online, and he destroyed me. |
I actually just picked up this game (on DVD) at best buy 2 weeks ago.. was playing steady till I got KOTOR at a great price ($10) I have been playing KOTOR till 3 in the morning the last 4 days heh but i will be playing UT2k4 alot too, i havent played unreal tournament since the original one but i loveed that one.

I'm still obsessed with Battlefield Vietnam. I like the physics engine and first-person engine better in the Battlefield games than in the UT games...I guess that's just personal preference though. The UT2k4 demo I played was really fun, however!

I haven't played for a while. Maybe a few weeks or so. I'm working through Doom3 and getting freaked, but turning back to UT2004 woudl be a nice, clean getaway. Think I'll jump on now!
|
yep, will continue my onslaught action after doom 3 is done :D
|
I play every once in a while on friend's private 32 player server, I'm not a big UT2K4 player, I only play whenever my friend's clan needs a sub or someone to play against for practice or something.
I've been playing that Joint Operations game, it blows Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam out of the water with its 150 players at once (75 vs. 75). I'd go play it right now, but I don't feel like going all the way to my room (where my gaming PC is). |
It's cool that there's a lot of people still playing it....

UT2004 is one of those games which'll be permanently engrained on the cylinders of my gaming hard-drive.
Always playing it. Always loving it. p.s. Joint Ops felt pretty crap once I got past the "OMFG 150 p33pz online!" but then again I'm no fan of BF either. |

I guess it comes down to wether you are a fast-paced action FPS player (quake, unreal) or a slower paced 'realistic' FPSer (CoD, Counterstrike)
I have a better time with the slower, one-two shot kill games than the fast weapon and armour grab ones. Must be my slow reflexes. |
I'm still playing the original UT
|
It's Unreal how fast I got bored of that game. I do play a mod for it called Frag-Ops but even that is getting boring. I am waiting for Tribes: Vengence now...I loved Tribes 2 but I have a feeling they are Quakeafying it and thus killing anything unique about Tribes.

I wish there were better mods

I still play UT, 2k4 and CS alot.
I love FPS games. I also have BF vietnam and CoD. Both are good but i didnt get to much into BF. |
I was a huge UT fan, and ran out to buy UT2k4, but I don't play it much at all.
Every free moment I have for gaming gets spent on Battlefield Vietnam or 1942. By comparison, the UT games feel too chaotic now, but are great for 2 player LAN games. |
Eh, I didn't really like UT2K4 that much. However, I really like the Red Orchestra mod for it.
|
I like UT2004 quite a bit; it's quite popular at lans. I am also encouraged in all the mods coming out for it.
