I actually would disagree, I am currently about 3/4 the way though the game if not further. From what I have seen and played, shadows casting from monsters them selves are rarely benifical to the game. You rarely get a chance to see a shadow ahead of time before they pop out at you, or if you do know that a enemy is ahead it is because of sound not visual.

Hi,
It doesn't so much give you an advantage, as it adds greatly to the visual effect (which, let's face it, is really what the game has going for it). Shadows add greatly to the moody environment and makes it that much more impressive.
