Fable - XBox

I've been wanting to get this game since it was called Project Ego. A long, long time ago.

And it's been preordered for me as an anniversary gift. Rock on.

Who else is getting it?

I'll be getting it. From what I've seen on the web it's not anything near what they promised back in the Project Ego days but still looks really good. Sudeki was another "must have" game but has slipped off the list since I've played the demo. I hope this one doesn't disappoint.

Damn, don't tell me Sudeki sucks. I just picked up the demo, haven't even tried it. I'm hoping we just have different tastes.

As for Fable, looking forward to it a smidge less that Halo2! So, ergo, an effing bunch! (it better not even remotely suck)

As it reads on the cover of the box:

ONLY ON XBOX

I am hoping for morrowind meets KOTOR myself, but from everything I've read it should be at least worth the 49.99 if not game of the year material...

I've been looking forward to it for a long time. And I hate RPGs, except RPGs that aren't linear pieces of shit *coughfinalfantasy*.

I was reading in EGM, I don't remember exactly what the article was, but it was about gaming's next biggest trends. Well, one part was called "Emergent Gameplay" and it had Peter Molyneux (creator of Fable, Black & White, Archon, Populous), and it said that he was watching a person play Fable, and the guy playing arranged a meeting between his character, and the town mayor, outside the town, in the forest. He watched the guy kill the mayor, then proceed to go into town and kill the mayor's wife. He later found out that the tester's main character recently married the mayor's daughter, and killed the mayor, and the mayor's wife, so the main character would inherit the mayor's property/possessions.

Badfuckingass.

I'll probably rent it first. That's what I did with KotOR. I rented it for the Xbox so I could play it, then waited for them to release the PC version and bought it then. I also did that with the original Halo. I can be very paitent.

Definitively ; the sooner the better...
I just saw the 40 minutes interview of Peter Molyneux, and man do this game looks great !
PS : Sudeki DOESN'T suck at all ; it's a nice little action/rpg game, very well realized, only a bit repetitive and, of course, very linear (that's a standard problem of the genre).

i like that your player changes appearance based on how you level up and how you behave. That's pretty sweet. Everybody's character will be totally unique.

Halo 2, of course.

I'm still hoping Jade Empire lives up the current hype, too.

This game looks like you could play for hours without actually advancing the story. I mean, how could you ever get sick of going up to a town woman, thrusting your pelvis at her, flipping off her kids, farting at the guard, then killing the woman, chopping off her head, playing soccer with it, and then farting on it? Go get a new tattoo and repeat.

Wow, this game looks nothing short of incredible. The only RPG like this I've ever played is Morrowind, which is quite addicting without all the crazy features Fable boasts. Thank God I have an XBOX already, or I'd probably have to buy one just for this game. Sept. 14th can't come fast enough!

I watched a limited edition preview documentary of Fable the other day at work. It looks prettty nice. It looks like there might be some camera issues, but who knows. You only can be a white character. There's not much customization besides what they made customizable for the white main character.

also they said that you could be male or female but now you can only be male.

and yes I hope Fable will be as good as they say it will be, could be a huge let down, same with Halo2

That's the only thing I do not like about what I hear. Sure, everyone's characters will pretty much be customized just by the way they play, but what about getting badass weapons and armor, changing beginning player stats and race (although I believe human is the only intelligent race in the game anyway, but what's an rpg without elves and shit?), etc etc. Hopefully this will prove to only be a minor drawback.

I put down my finsky at eb games today to reserve my copy. I'm pretty excited about this one....thinking about playing the good side but with a few outbreaks of extreme evilness. It's sad that I always end up playing the good side first because we all know that good is dumb.

I too saw that Pre-Order disk they gave you. After seeing it, i acctualy, went back and took off my pre-order. Watching it and seeing that my character isn't totally costomizeable. That reason being, you can't change skin color pick clothes and such. But I am speaking from only reading a a watching a little bit on it. (Enough not to ruin stuff for me, but also enough to kind of understand what im getting into). I saw in the video that if your "evil" then you start getting horns. And if "good" you start getting Butterflies. Now im not one hundred percent sure if you have to get those things when you become good or evil, but i dont want to be forced to get horns or what ever. I dont know, just a little unsure if this is going to be as Costomizable and free-will as i thought. I'll wait for all you guys to review it for me . No doubt it will be good. Just a little unsure after seeing the movie.

Fable is single handedly forcing me to buy an Xbox. Not that Xboxes are bad, I'm just kinda poor, and I already have a Gamecube so I usually wait and see if games come out on it. But Fable just looks too cool, and I know GC will never get it.

In development for nearly five years, Fable is finally finished. Today on its website, developer Lionhead let it be known that Fable has gone gold. This means that the long-awaited RPG is done. There's no more bug testing, no features to add or remove, no more messing around at all. The game is final.

This also essentially guarantees Fable will make its September 14 release date. So go ahead, start to celebrate.
