fischer random chess
so inspired by the bobby fischer arrest in japan, and related coverage, i read an article from 2002 published in atlantic about him--which mentioned fischer random chess---am printing out the rules, but i wonder if anyone has played this game? it seems interesting, but i am sure i will be blundering through for a while.
advice? experiences? |
I think it would be fun since it's random so it's different every time. Do both players get the same random backrow? If not, there would always be people saying they got screwed on their random placement and that would kind of suck.

I don't know if I'd ever play it, knowing it was created by an anti-semitic radical. However, I would have no problems ever owning a Benz or a BMW, so forget that logic.

You can play it on the internet chess club i believe (this is also where a grandmaster smart thinks he played bobby speed chess, and got spanked...)....

i havent tried it yet--i am looking over the rules still.
i am not really adept at visualizing games from the rules, so i'll probably have to set up a board etc. in order to see this. anyway, here is the article from atlantic, 2002 on fischer: http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/12/chun.htm and this is the rule set for random chess linked from the above: http://www.dwheeler.com/essays/Fisch...dom_Chess.html |
