CS spray not working - wrong number of lumps error
I made a Tilted Gaming TFP logo spray for Counterstrike, and when I try to load it, servers give me an error saying it has the wrong number of lumps.
I made a jpeg in Photoshop 7, and converted it to a Half-Life .wad with Wally. Wally documentation mentions nothing about lumps. This is the only thing Google turned up: Quote:
If anyone has successfully made sprays before and thinks they could fix this, here's the spray in .jpg format: http://www.boomspeed.com/mrcactus/TFP_CS_Spray.jpg |
Stolen from here

If you still can't get it to work after a while I can get the tools and give it a shot myself. [EDIT] Just found this: "Its pixel WIDTH times HEIGHT, must NOT be more then 10,752 or WALLY will not convert it." Also found a chart(click). |
Yes. The dimensions must be in multiples of 16 (if I remember correctly), and less than the 10,752 total pixels that Zello said.
That translates into: your image needs to be 96x96, if you want it to be square. It also needs to be 8-bit. I don't recall if Wally does this or not, but the program I'm using now (Half Life Logo Creator) automatically converts it to 8-bit. I have the wad made, and it seems to work correctly (at least in my server). If you want me to just send it to you, PM me. Otherwise you can probably get it to work yourself with that info. |

Grainy sprays suck :/ |
Actually, because his jpeg image had very simple colors, it looks alright. That's the real secret to good looking HL wads: simple colors with high contrast. So the TFP logo works well.

Some servers also ban custom sprays. I know of one that has them banned because there was a way to crash the server using bad sprays.
