Joint Ops: Typhoon Rising
I saw this game on Tech TV - looked pretty neat. I guess it supports over 60 players for a single multiplayer map. Large variety of vechicles, ect.
Does anyone by chance have this game? Thoughts on it? Worth buying?

Hmm, a 7.6 from IGN. Well, I dunno man, a 7.6, for me, usually pushes a game away from the "buy when brand new" stage to the "wait a few months and see how much cheaper it gets" or even as far as "download that bitch."

I pretty much don't pay much attention to rating systems anymore - the fact that most critics gave Jet Set Radio Future unbelievably high marks destroyed any faith that I had in the rating system...

Alright, I decided to buy it.
My personal opinion - Fantastic, as far as military games go. With up to 150 players per map, the games are massive. You can choose between a variety of different classes. Rifleman - Can get the M203 w/ Grenade launcher, as well as many other assult rifles, best for all around use. Gunner - Heavy machine guns Medic - As the name implies, you can heal people Engineer - Has Surface to Air Missle Capabilities, also can use mortars Sniper - Amazing class. You need to be rather skilled to use correctly, but after calculating the distances and adjusting your weapon, you can snipe from a max range of about a kilometer. There are tons of different vehicles, from small rafts (ala SEALS) patrol boats, APCs, Jeeps, Hummers, Dune Buggies, Attack Choppers, Chinooks, ect. The maps are almost unfathomably big, with some over 50 square kilometers. The graphics are pretty decent, the water graphics are amazing. If you are into strategy games or just FPS, this comes highly recommended by me

I tried the demo. I hated it. I can honestly put it in the top worst games I've ever played list. I think a lot of that is the overly confusing control scheme and being used to the Battlefield series. If you've played Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield Vietnam, look elsewhere, because both of those games do it better than Joint Ops.

Haven't played it but the control scheme sounds true, in the box you get this little paper cover for your Function keys with labels telling you what each one does. I hate games with too many controls, but then again I've never really been into the Battlefield style games anyway (until Star Wars: Battlefront comes out).

Ah, yes - The controls are very confusing. I probably should have elaborated in my original post...
If you just want to run n' gun, the standard WSAD for movement applies, with Spacebar to Jump and Shift to Action.... However, if you are more apt to play it strategically, there is an obsene amount of controls for you to fine tune with. The keyboard overlay that comes with the game is very, very helpful, I can't imagine playing without it. Once you basically get past the run n' gun stage, you can set up fire teams, set up waypoints, go codes, designate areas for mortor attacks, ect. The controls in this game are kinda tricky, but once used to them - at least the main ones - it gets a lot more enjoyable.
