Driv3r
So now that Driv3r has hit retail and we've got our grubby hands on it, what do you think?
I am trying to find more to like about it, other than crashing down hills and making a mess of traffic. Sure it's pretty, the control while in car is pretty good, but what's the deal with on foot? You'd think after Driver 2 they'd do something about it.. but it just plain horrible. While ranting about the control, at this day and age all games should offer a control customization. Currently I'd only give this game a 6/10, but as I progress through it I hope to find something to change my mind. Just for reference I'm playing it on the PS2, so hopefully the Xbox version differs and is a much more enjoyable game. |

Hmm... whats to like about driv3r?
1. They kept the same stiff character movement from the previous Drivers. 2. The AI is dumb as shit. 3. Strafing wins every battle. 4. They made us wait a long time for a big letdown. 5. The game is short. 6. The story sucks. Wait, those are what SUCK about the game.

I don't know what they were thinking releasing this game. It looks half finished. They clearly spent tonnes on the cutscenes, with their fancy rendering techniques and big hollywood names, but it looks like the money ran out when it came to the gameplay. I played it for 20 min and couldn't play it anymore.

Wow, that bad huh? I was a huge fan of Driver, Driver 2 was, well, not good. I was hoping they learned there lesson and not have any out of car high-jinx. That ruined a lot of Driver 2 for me. I was quite excited seeing new screens for this one. After seeing these celebrities doing voices for the characters though, I was wondering what there budget was, apparently it wasn't enough. Does this Driv3r have a crappy multi-player like 2 had I'm cerious? I still want to play it, crapy or not, I need to see for my self.

Major letdown.
Most of the reasons listed above support my opinion, but I'd also like to point out how they boasted about cars having real physics, after running into a light post three times at full speed,my car and the light post were fine. The EGM review is total bullshit, not a worthy purchase :/ |

It's worth a rental, which is currently what I am doing for the better part of the following week.

Yeah, and IGN gave it a damn 5.5. That was a bigger letdown for me than when MGS: TTS got a fucking' 8.5 from IGN. Which isn't terrible, mind you, it's a damn good score, but for me, it was a major dissapointment, seeing as how IT'S A METAL GEAR GAME, and all, but I understand where they were coming from on the review, there are some fundamental problems with the game that detract enough for it not to earn a stellar grade, just one that makes it worth buying.

man, I was looking forward to Driver 3 most likely more than anyone in the entire universe. I played the first one to DEATH and back, and had suicidal tendencies when Driver 2 sucked. Why, oh why did they have to fuck this one up? I want a good game. Dammit.
