playback/recording in GTA? (maybe for the next one...) - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

i know it would take up a HELL of a lot of memory/resources

but, wouldn't it be cool to do an instant replay or something like that in gta? Either you could chose to do a "start recording now" and review whatever you've selected, (maybe pc version only...)

or, you could do an "instant replay" which would show you the lazst 45 secs or so, and you could change the camera angle, swivel the camera etc. Cinematic view is fun and all, but hard to drive/control and pull of cool shit, so maybe if you did something normally, and reviewed it in "cinematic mode"...

It'd be difficult resource wise to record where every pedestrian/other vehicle is... (so maybe, all cars/people not involved or within a certain distance would be removed or randomized)

Cuz it be sweet to see again that time you swerved, hit a car, flew over the police baricade, bounced off a truck, did a 180, pulled out the uzi and mowed down pedestrians, only to land exactly on track as you were before.

Or to review all the cool stunts you can do in the motorcycles, swerving in and out of traffic and trying to set/up choreograph the perfect action sequence.

That'd be incredibly awesome, but I don't think that's gonna happen for anything besides PC, if even that...and if it does happen on the console scene, the X-Box will break it in first. I agree with ya though, I'd love that.

the recording selection thing would be difficult on console (even on pc it would take up gobs of memory)

It might be cool though if you could just replay the last 30 or 45 secs, as i suggested, with changeable camera angle/rewind etc. Remember how many hours you all played NASCAR just setting up crashes and rewinding/replaying it?

or, maybe to save on resources, only after "big events" like after hitting a jump, killing someone,/destroying a car doing a trick, wasting a cop, taking alot of damage, dying you could go into the menu

That would be really cool, I agree with rune of the big events thing. You just pulled off a wicked stop, the camera slows down ala matrix and maybe does like a "Flashback" after you land the trick.

hmm i think i'd prefer an option to view it manually. the cool thing about GTA is there aren't a lot of gimmicks that look cool once or twice, but hamper gameplay. like maybe when you can reply you press triangle or something...
