Although it's available on every platform, I'd strongly recommend Beyond Good and Evil if you haven't played it already.
Summoner 1 is an underrated RPG, and you should be able to get it for like 10 bucks or less on ebay. If you're married and your spouse likes games, get The Adventures of Cookies and Cream.

One game that comes to mind right now, is Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, this is the most fun i had in a racing game in a long time, it reminded me of the old days of Top Gear. It's a must have for a PS2 owner, it's also the best out of the other consols and PC versions too.
I'll try and think of more later...

this game's a bit of a sleeper, but it's fun, silly, and it does provide some real challenge. i'd definitely rent it for a few days and give it a try:
I Ninja (click for a link to the game's homepage)

RPG's suggestion
I personally recommend Suikoden 3--the storyline is uniformly excellent, and most of the characters have actual motivations behind their actions. Amazing, that.
Also, I agree about Disgaea, and the recently release La Pucelle Tactics. Both are strategy RPG's with a serious bent attitude. Of the two, Disgaea is the better, IMHO. Finally, I'm going to go out on a limb here and claim Metal Gear Solid 2. Despite what you may have heard from others, I think it is truly classic. Not gonna say anything else, tho. Make up your own mind, of course. |

If you like RPG's, I believe that Baldur's Gate: Dark Legacy is quite underrated. I wouldn't go for Gauntlet Legends, especially if you've played it on N64.
For racing, Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero is fun, as is Midnight Club Quote:

Na, if the game is availble on PC, I'll be playing it on that. Graphics are better, patches, mods, multiplayer (not the gay ps2 network stuff), and I have a PS2->USB pad when the controlls call for it.
Gonna check out this Jak game tho, many of you seem to mention it.
