Super Mario Bros. 3 VS Chrono Trigger ("Best. Game. Ever." contest)
http://www.GameFAQs.com
After the hectic and sometimes controversial matches the past four days that were the championships of certain eras, the dust has settled; at GameFAQs, it is the popular opinion (whether it's right or not) that Super Mario Bros. 3, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7, and Super Smash Brothers Melee are the best games in their particular era. Now...it's time for the era's champions to face off. Today's match is the 8-Bit Champion against the 16-Bit Champion. Chrono Trigger was good in my book, don't get me wrong, but Super Mario Bros. 3 did me better, so it gets my vote. I get the feeling this one will be close at GameFAQs, so everyone should vote there, too; there's a heated Mario/Crono feud there already, so when the games that represent them best face off, I'm sure hell very well may break lose.

Chrono Trigger, without a doubt. The best RPG ever made, and easily on the top five best games ever list for me.

Man, if Chrono Trigger wins this one, and FFVII wins the next...oh Jesus. Chrono Trigger versus Final Fantasy VII??? I honestly don't know which one I'll choose.

Yeah, I actually managed to pick one this time, since there's a clear cut difference in the quality of game when comparing the two. I picked CT, obviously, because it's just a damn better game than SMB3.

hmm, i tend to agree with Chrono Trigger being the best choice... but, think about this...
replay value: You can pick up smb3 at ANY time and just play it. CT, you sort of have to be "in the mood" to play it, or have a specific save game slot for when you just want to pick it up and kill stuff... |

lasereth, i know what you mean, but lemme go into detail more..
i mean, i can pick up smb3, play it for 3 hours, either die, beat it or just stop playing. if i start a new CT game, i HAVE to finish it so, sort of like playing a game of boggle... or a game of risk or monopoly. |

I'll agree with rune and Lasereth both on that issue, but I must side with rune more; I've rarely ever had any trouble gettin' in the mood for any Mario game, particularly Super Mario World and Super Mario 64, but that doesn't exclude Super Mario Bros. 3.

Chrono Trigger won by about 4000 votes, putting it in the championship match tomorrow.
