Chrono Trigger VS Zelda: Link to the Past ("Best. Game. Ever." contest)
http://www.GameFAQs.com
Today, the 16-Bit Division is having its championship round, which pits Chrono Trigger and Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past against each other. I've played a decent bit of Chrono Trigger and thought it was okay, while I've played very little of LoZ:LttP. On TFP, I'll vote Chrono Trigger because I've played that game enough to know it's alright, but I voted LoZ:LttP on GameFAQs 'cuz my bracket there depends on it, heh. What would/did my fellow TFP'ers vote for?

I'd have to say Chrono Trigger.
Once you beat Zelda, you're done. There's no continuation like there is in CT with the multiple endings and New Game+. While Zelda was definitely a great game, CT will easily take the cake in this contest simply because there's a vast amount of content and things to do within the game.

Crono Trigger is 2 times the game Zelda Link to the Past. First of all in Zelda there is no reason to fight random battles...You dont get anything for it at all. The thing that makes Crono Trigger great is the things you do in the game effect the outcomes...Like if you steal the turkey in the begining, when you are on trial they will sentance you guilty. And in Zelda I hate that stupid mirror that transports you into the rabit world or whatever the hell it was. Dont get me wrong Zelda is a good game but it cannot match up to the Might of Crono Trigger.

I voted for Chrono Trigger as well. I love both these games, had fun playing both of them and I almost voted for 'I'm split' but Chrono Trigger edged out Link to the Past for me.

Easy again. Chrono Trigger.
Now, if this were FFIII vs Chrono Trigger LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN then it would have been a tough choice (and I would have voted for FFIII btw). EDIT: Shit dude the voting is close on this one! 49.99% to 50.01% as of right now, in Zelda's favor. *sigh* and I noticed Mario 3 won too.....it should have been Zelda 1 vs Chrono Trigger, but with the way my picks are going it'll be Mario 3 vs. Link to the Past. People just don't have taste in games

Honestly, I wonder why they have these polls. If you look at every gaming site, you'll find that the top games are either:
Ocarina of Time (N64), Metroid Prime (GC), Goldeneye (N64) It's almost always one of those 3. I think that just about sums up the greatest games of all time

I hate polls like this, especially the one on GameFAQs.com. It's totally unfair to most games, especially the sleeper hits. Zelda versus Chrono Trigger? That's not even RPG vs RPG. Both games can probably hold the title, but I'll have to go with Chrono Trigger because it is actually one of my top 10 favorite games ever. Probably in the top 5.

i voted CT because I 1) played it a shitlode, and 2) my vote isn't important because this entire contest hasn't made sense. Games against games in differing genres shouldn't happen.

Chrono trigger... I never could get into the older Zelda games.
it's now 50.1 - 49.9 in CT's favour :P

As much as I love Chrono Trigger, I think Zelda: A Link to the Past very well could be my favorite game ever (unless we're counting FF6). So I'm going to have to go against the majority on TFP and vote for Zelda.

This should be a landslide victory for Chrono Trigger. As fun as Zelda was, Chrono Trigger just had the sheer depth and fucking AWESOME plot that had you playing it over and over and over. One of the best RPGs of all time. Recently picked it up and played it 'til the end. Almost as fun as the first time I played it.

Of course, if you've decided which one you like more, go there and vote for it already regardless of my bracket. =P Side-note: Here's why I need a win so badly today... http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/spr04_stats.html ...now look at #34. That's not just my basketball number, folks, that's me. HaRRicH, ladies and gentlemen. A win today will be incredible for me, especially considering I'm already guaranteed to miss the winner of StarCraft VS Super Smash Bros. Melee on Thursday (I had LoZ: Wind Waker winning). So...yeah. Help a brother out if you're indifferent.

Further proof that FF3/6 should have beaten Link to the Past:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Final Fantasy III (VI) 39.57% That means only roughly 40% of people who entered the contest thought FF3/6 would lose to Link to the Past. Everyone who voted otherwise should die now. grrrrr (no...really....I'm not bitter ) As a side note to stay relevant, Ace_O_Spades, only 8% of people thought Starcraft would beat Wind Waker. I haven't played Wind Waker, but with those kind of numbers it must be a really good game.

How long does each voting bracket last? When will the CT vs LtTP voting stop?
I personally think Ocarina of Time or StarCraft will win. Neither one are the best if ya ask me, but all this is is a popularity contest, and both of the aformentioned games will probably win out of pure popularity. I still can't believe Super Smash Brothers made it this far. I can't stand that game. -Lasereth

Weaker crack than the kind I had when I predicted Kingdom Hearts over Halo...yikes, big mistake. So ya know though, LoZ:WW only lost to Starcraft by about 170 votes, so it wasn't ridiculous to think at all.

Both games are probably in my top 5 games for Super Nintendo, but Zelda was one of my favorite games ever. Why? It might not have the features, or the depth, but it's gameplay was just perfect. The controls just felt right, and graphics were amazing for the time (what 5 years earlier than chrono trigger?).

I think either Final Fantasy 7 or LoZ:OoT will win it all...and that match is tomorrow, yikes. Starcraft is a true shocker, yes, but for as even as it was with LoZ:WW, consider the fact that many people don't like Wind Waker 'cuz it's so easy. Then think about the people who thought that cel-shading sucks, and was turned off by it. LoZ:OoT is the most popular one in the series, so it'd beat Starcraft, surely. If FF7 beats LoZ:OoT like I think it will, that'd mean FF7 > LoZ:OoT > LoZ:WW = Starcraft, in my book.

Even though I think FF7 is in the top 3 best games ever, it won't stand a chance against the StarCraft fanboys out there. It'd be nice if it gave it an ass kicking, but it's not gonna happen. Well, unless the StarCraft fans like FF7 more, which is highly unlikely. Hell, I don't think FF7 will even come close to OoT.

Check at the bottom. The percent beside it tells how many people predicted that the game that won would advance to the next round.

He he he, I thought it would. Then again though, Starcraft.................curses. That game alone has cost me 15 points in this contest already. I have only missed two matches that didn't involve Starcraft, and they were first-round matches that were respectably close (Donkey Kong VS Duck Hunt and Perfect Dark VS Castlevania: Symphony of the Night).

Chrono Trigger won by about 360 votes, for those who don't know...a great match that screwed my bracket, but a great match nonetheless, heh.
