Super Mario Bros. 3 VS Legend of Zelda ("Best. Game. Ever." contest)

If you've read much of the "Halo vs Starcraft" thread, you'll know that there's a "Best. Game. Ever." contest going on at GameFAQs. I just thought I'd take the time to make a thread for each match, now that it's in the Elite Eight and I won't flood the board too bad with it.

Today, it's the championship of the 8-Bit Division, where Super Mario Bros. 3 is taking on Legend of Zelda. I'm a personal fan of both, but I voted for SMB3. What would/did my fellow TFP'ers vote for?

Mario, hands down.

For me its Zelda > SMB3.
Now if it were SMB1, then perhaps I would have voted differently...

Come on, where else can you pick up frog and raccoon suits? You know, I never understood why the raccoon suit lets you fly, raccoons don't fly in real life unless they're being really sneaky about it.

Zelda.. sorry but that game was just too good. Mario 3 was cool and all but.... Zelda.

Neither. They didn't even have Tecmo Super Bowl on the list, so I never got into it.

Zelda. What other 8-bit (or any game, for that matter) had a second quest to play through after the first?

And finding that level 7 dungeon in the second quest (before the internet, mind you) was haaaard, especially since you didn't have the red candle yet.

Legend of Zelda, no contest.

I'm just pissed that Link to the Past beat out FFIII.

I have always loved the Mario games and I have never liked Zelda. We own them and my kids and husband like playing them but I don't.

TLOZ only b/c it was soooo hard... the best zelda however was when it was in it's 16 bit days... yeah supernintendo...*sigh* back when they knew how to make games...

I'm split because they're two entirely different genres. But they're easily the best of their day for the genre.

Quality-wise, I'm indifferent because I've never really given either the time to actually play and enjoy them. Contest-wise, I'm proud that happened; I need LoZ:LttP to get to the Championship and lose...that'd be GREAT for my bracket. *hint hint* ;)

I never played much of that, but I wish it woulda made it just to raise hell in that division. I'm more upset that Punch-Out and Mega-friggin'-Man 2 didn't make it. Those three games would have been better picks than Adventure, Galaga, Phantasy Star, or Pitfall.

I've put more play time in SMB3 then LoZ... so SMB3 it is.

Ever since SMB3 came out, I dont think ove gone a day with out mentioning its my favorite game ever.

I really don't know how many times I have played, Zelda games over and over and over.... tooooo many I think.

I think it's neat that if Wind Waker had beaten out Starcraft, there would be a Zelda game in every finals bracket.

It should of been Zelda Link to the Past vs Final Fantasy IV(our 2) with FFIV(2) winning.

Not being able to save in SMB3 was stupid. I hated going through all that crap again each time I had to play.

Mario was fun, but got boring pretty quick... it didn't get good till Super Mario World. Now, THAT game was awesome.

Besides that "boring" jibberish ya said, I agree with everything else stated. =P
