I haven't played this game yet, but my brother rented it and I saw the opening CGI sequence...AMAZING!!! If they made a movie of that I would probably go to the theaters to see it. I always liked the Onimusha games, but I think this one might be the best. It has to be...it has the fucking Professional in it, Leon.

Hey, I'm proud of my standards!

Either way, IGN did give it a 9. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it a 9, 8, and 7. I'm not so sure about it now. EGM also gave Onimusha 2 a 9, 8, and 7, and I hated it. I think I'll pass.

I do agree about the opening CG, though...holy hell! I'll wager it's the best CGI I've ever seen for a videogame before.

Part one was brilliant but part 2 really fell off for me, the whole buddying system was something that would've been more at home in a Final Fantasy game.

I'm definately looking forward to playing 3, the inclusion of Jean Reno bloody rocks, plus I'll be getting a LE version with a bonus DVD

p.s. That opening is amazing, I really hope they make an actual CG film out of this universe.

Ok so I'm a little annoyed, why the heck is it that only three people posted in this thread?! My god this game is so good it's not funny! Onimusha 1 was great, I wasn't a fan of 2 (thanks to the crap buddy system) but 3... 3 takes the cake. It's like Devil May Cry but so much better. It is absolutely fantastic. I'm only five hours into the game so far but I'm going out on a limb to say it's the best game I've played on the PS2 period.

BUY THIS GAME!!!

Watched my brother play that on the weekend. But I've been playing Ninja Gaiden on the xbox.

I know it's unfair to compare two games across two platforms, so I won't. But they are "similar" in the sense that they both meet my "Need to Kill Things In a Cool Ninja Way" needs, so I don't feel the need to play Onimusha 3 while I've got a prettier "Killing Things Ninja Style" game on the Xbox.

But I agree - the opening movie was brilliant. I downloaded and watched it many times before the game even came out.
But then Ninja Gaiden has a few beautiful CGI sequence involving Woman With Huge Boobs In Small Armour.

Ok so I finished the game last night/this morning... fuck me dead it's good. Definately the best game on PS2 (IMO) and definately in my Top 5 games of all time. It wasn't very long, took me 10 hours to beat but I enjoyed every second... it's a pity that the saga is now complete... I seriously hope Samanosuke returns in the rumoured sequel/prequel. Hell, I can't even begin to describe how good this game is... I haven't felt this way since playing Metroid Prime which if you know me is a HUGE compliment.

There's an extra mini game where you get to control another character from the story in a mission you don't get to see which I'm about to play shortly... damn it I love this game.
