HL2 Gameplay movies

Well, seeing how HL2 will be coming out in about 3-4 months, i woulda thought more people would be talking about it.

Ive seen older threads with their "cool" screen shots of the game ....... but no trailers.

For a game like this, i dont think screen shots would do any good.

soooooooo..............after hours of searching, i was able to find this site http://www.3dgamers.com/games/halflife2/ . and o...m....g!!!!!! They have a couple gameplay movies and trailers. After you see this, you will understand why you need an elite computer to play this game.

Yeah, I saw some of those videos a while back. The one that features the gravity gun and the fight in the middle of the city was awesome.

Oh, and you don't need too good of a PC to play HL2; it's not as demanding as most people think. You just won't be able to turn it up to full blast settings unless you have a really good PC. At normal settings, a simple GeForce 4 TI series and Athlon XP will do fine.

well, most Radeon 9000+ and above should be able to handle the graphics pretty well

I ran HL2 on my 5900 and the framerate was phenomenal (I'm talking 80+ on high), and considering that it was running an unoptimised and memory leaking code that's pretty damn amazing.

it runs great on my 9800 pro as well, i would like to run it on a x800, or when the 6x00's come out.

You can all have fun pouring thousands of dollars into your system to make it run, but I'll be laughing my ass off when I'm playing it at medium-res while your computer becomes sentient and tries to eat you.

I don't believe anything Valve says anymore regarding the release of HL2. The only way I'll believe it's been released is when the retail box is sitting in my greasy little palms.

Two words: 'Alpha' and 'Leak'.

yea...only the engine got leaked...not the game. So i still dont believe that people played the game yet. Maybe a couple legit screenshots could persuade me to believe that some of you have the "leak" or the "alpha"

There's a benchmarking program out there that renders a scene from the game with your computer hardware. It ran damn good on my TI4200. Hunt around, it's actually legit.

The leak is the one from last September. It's a good chunk of the game. You know, the one that the "hackers" got from Valve's servers or whatever through e-mail. A couple of my friends played it as well. It's the level when you're running from the enemies and have to hide indoors I believe. I think I remember the enemies bursting through the doors and windows. Either way, it's out there, and people have definitely played it on their PCs.

Yeah I ran HL2 on my 2500 barton + Gf4-ti4600 and it ran SMOOTH. I'm talking impressive good while very visually appealing.

To be more exact, it has around 9-10 different levels (you gotta know your way around the console WHICH IS VERY EASY NOW with its autocomplete feature), most weapons, the buggy, and other stuff.

I was impressed is all I'll say, that and the gravity gun is fucking A+ .

i'm running a xp1700 with a GeForce4 440mx... on average settings (800x600, medium eveything) it runs quite good! still looks fucking sweet...

yeah, it was leaked, and if you want it, its a 4 GIG file... so um, trust me, theres a bit of the game there... you have to load the levels individually etc. but i found the start of the game once and was able to play through the beginning. but you can see all the shit that still has to be done, heaps is left out (heaps of textures etc)... and through some of the levels theres notes and things that the developers put there(like little tags saying "this is where the final battle will occur"... oh and you can also load all the levels that you see in that trailer, and play them. the buggy rocks!

but i gotsta say, it wasn't totally compatible with my video card yet... i think the 440mx only utilizes DX7, so all the really detailed eyes and eveything didn't work, they just showed up as white balls, and i got errors saying they didn't work... course this would be fixed in the final release...

BUT someone told me that it could be released as late as next year... kinda sucks when the game looks really good even half finished and it was supposed to be out early this year...

with everybody talking about playing the leaked version I had to go out and find it and test it for myself.....sweet jebus is that going to totally rock once they get all the texture and all the other elements put together!

It runs pretty smooth on my 4200ti with xp2000+.

I would agree that thethe autocomplete on the console is pretty top notch!

anybody here played with XSI yet?

I just installed it and started to dink with it. The characters are amazing in the unfinished one and after playing with XSI for just a little while I can see why.

I'll reiterate that i'm using a semi outdated system (GeForce 3 Ti200 with a 1.6ghz cpu) I noticed that some maps (particulary e3_seafloor) were jerky and glitchy, did anyone else have this problem, i'm hoping that it's like that because it's unoptimized and in VERY early stages. Otherwise, the engine is incredible, i love that when you shoot a wall you get shrapnel

and yes e3_seafloor is laggy, the draw distance is larger in HL2 then what you are used to. and with the large expance of terrain makes it a bear to draw.

-will this "laggy-ness" be fixed via optimazation or is the only fix a more recent Card?

I also just used steam for the first time to re-download Half-Life and Counterstrike(to bide my time before HL2 comes out). Is anyone else dreading the day they have to download it from the slow Steam servers. maybe i'm just a pessimist, but if the game is over a gig and going anywhere from 45 to 256 kbs, it'll still take hours if not days. I wonder if the servers are ready for such a load.
