need a good side scroller type
One of my all time favourite side scrollers was this SNES game called Metal Warriors. You were this little marine dude who pilotted this bigass mech things, and went around blowing crap up. Really cool, lots of different mechs and good powerups.
I was also a fan of sonic and such... But i was thinking that the 2d side scroller isnt popular right now. I'd love to make a 2d side scroller with fantastic graphics, lots of colours, explosions, but tons of weapons and lots of control options (instead of just jump/shoot), like, shoot, alternate shoot, sword/melee attack, duck, jump, throw grenade, aim/sniper mode, run, lots of options... I've been playing a game sort of like this called Soldat, but it lacks graphics and any sort of singe player experience... I was also enjoying a game called infantry (it was top down) but it was the same thing, simple game, but in depth gameplay. However, they sold out and made you pay to play once it got popular. So any good (maybe from five years to present) 2d or simple sort of side scrollers out there i could check out? (for PC) |

Duke Nukem Manhattan Project is a great side scroller. Especially if you liked the DN series. It was $19.99 new but im sure you can find it cheaper now. Great graphics for a side scroller imho.

Best side-scroller ever: Gunstar Heros for the sega genesis. If you haven't played it, you should.

Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 3 are the awesomest side-scrolling shooters I've ever played. You'll have to download MAME (I like Mame32 Plus v0.81 a lot) and the roms for both games, and be sure to enable the red blood. You're in for some fun.

Sonic 3 and Sonic 3 + Knuckles are my all time faves... I so wish they'd make 3d versions of these games but in a 2d format, fuck that DX and Heroes crap.
Also check out Oddworld 1 and 2 on the PSOne/PC, they're freaking brilliant. |

Throne of Darkness - It is a 2d advanture game. The animations in this game is great. There is only one problem, the game is freakin hard.
PS: Good to see another player of Soldat.
