UT2004 dvd re-released
 

For those of us who missed it the first time, atari has re-released the DVD edition at normal price.

I not longer have a reason not to buy this game.:cool:

All the 6-Cd Suckers will be pissed.

Why?

This question could have two answers:

Why (will they be pissed)? - Cause having to install off of 6 CD's would blow. One DVD is super slick and much faster.

Why (did they rerelease it?) - Cause at least 20% of the suckers who bought the CD version will also buy the DVD version.

But that's just my opinion...yadda yadda yadda :)

I have the 6 CD's version, and it wasn't the end of the world. It wasn't any worse than Far Cry.

Oh, and we also got that slick free headset and extra DVD that I have never used.

But you're probably right...not that big of a deal.

The headset is only in the special edition, not the DVD.

It was to me. I bought it on CD first, then sold it to a guy at work and bought the DVD Special Edition. I wish all new games came on DVD.

the second dvd is supposed to have the the tutorials on using the editor so that even someone who has never done anything like it can make new things with it.

Sweet! Now when I get me some money I can pick this sucker up and not have to use six cds to install the thing!

Yeah...I keep meaning to watch the "How To" DVDs.... And by the way, those headphones: ick. The sound is just terrible! Did anybody else notice that?

So much for limited editions.

Returned my 6-CD version and got the 2-DVD set, the joys of running a gamestore.

I played the demo and thought it was a crap game.
But I never really liked the UT series, anyway. So there.

So you were the guy who didn't buy it, cool.

The tutorials on the Bonus DVD are absolutely brilliant.

I hate you....

I have the DVD SE.. but.. the whole gamestore part... Death to you...


They still are, metal box, different dvd case, useless headphones.

Anyways, who actually bought the SE just becuase it was in limited quantity... you buy it for the dvd.

I'm still not quite sure what to do with the metal "box" my SE came in...

Be cafeful, If you use alcohol or Daemontools, it will not run on your system until you uninstall them. Ut2004 is a very nicely made game. But I still perfer Q3RA3.

I have daemon tools installed, and my UT2k4 SE works fine...

Insert dvd, click play, voila - working game.

My job rocks, free games, free access to conventions, great discounts... my job ROCKS!!! ;)

I have had both Alcohol 120% and DaemonTools on my system and never heard a peep from UT2K4 about it.

yeah, whats that noob talking about... i have alcohol 120% also and ut2k4 works fine for me

Some people have been having the Alcohol problem, supposedly it happens on games like Painkiller and Breed too.

Is this a Alcohol problem with a downloaded iso.. or a retail game installed..

Not that I'm assuming or anything.

I played around with the tuturials and all I can say is, "wow!" They are nicely made and easy to follow. If you have the time to spend and will to create a level, then it's definately worth it!

One thing I noticed, though, is that the tuturials were made for unreal 2003 (not that it makes a difference). Anyone else catch that?

From my understanding, the issue is caused by the copy protection scheme used on the discs. This copy protection has also caused problems with trying to install the game. I've heard that once installed, if you get your hands on a no-cd crack taht you don't have the problem.

Of course I wouldn't know if Alcohol still causes problems for people because I don't use the prog.

I have the CD version and its really not all that bad. Took me 5 mins to install. And even though its not a big deal, the DVD re-release is on 2 DVD's. Not one.

2 DVD's yup, but one is for install and play and the other has tutorials for modding :)

I"m also one of those guys that didn't get it. I played bits and pieces of previous UT's and I just wasn't impressed. The entire feel just... wasn't that great. UT2K3 just.. No. But I've heard lots about 2K4, and with DVD's I think I might just pick it up in a week (when I get my first paycheck of the summer ;))
