Who's going to E3 this year?
This will be my first year going, and I think it should be a good one. I'll be bringing my camcorder so there will be some vids floating.
What I'm most looking forward to... Halo 2 multiplayer playable. |
Have fun pushing through the crowds, I've heard lately that event is just to populated to ever get up close and see stuff, or the big event items are closed door. :(
Either way, I still envy you for going. :) |
Hey Dave, get us some damn Metroid Prime 2 movies! :)

I'm avoiding e3 this year. While it sure is a fun time, it's a real hassle for me to get there this year, company is no longer paying for hotel/transport :( so its gotta come out of my pocket. Few tips if its your first time going.
1. Comfortable shoes. I cannot stress this enough. You will walk a whole hell of a lot and stand around a whole hell of a lot more. Having shin splints on day 2 is no fun at all. 2. You may want to wait to get there till around 11-12 on the first day. The lines to get your badge/holder are friggin retarded when the show first opens. If you're going for all 3 days there is no need to be there at opening time on day 1. You'll have more than enough time to see what you want to see. 3. Food/Water. As in any convention it's overpriced and pretty craptacular so bring your own. I bring fruit and a large water bottle with me, easy to carry and much better fuel then a $12 sandwich and coke. 4. A good bag/backpack. You pick up a ton of crap along the way. 5. Walkie talkies are good if you go with a friend. You don't know how easy it is to lose someone in there. It sure is a bitch when you want to leave and they're not around. Other than that, have a great time. It really is a lot of fun. |
Dave we fully expect updates!
Have fun boss. |
Check out Fable for the Xbox if you can. From what I've read, it going to be a really great game.
|
I envy you so much....
Enjoy it some for me! |
It appears I may be going for the first time this year. I'm really looking forward to it. The cost is going to be pretty drastic, but well worth it in the end I do believe.
|
I'll be there. This will be (gulp) my eighth trip to E3 - and I don't think I've ever had a busier one planned. I start meeting with folks and seeing stuff as early as Monday and will be talking with them well after the show ends. Some of the hot tickets this year, FYI, will be:
* The Halo 2 theater (natch). The game probably won't be playable on the floor, though. * Half-Life 2. This will be showing at two booths, I hear. And each demo will be a separate one - so, if you're all up ons for this, make time for two tech demos. * Unreal 3 engine. This will be on display at the nVidia booth. You want to see it. Trust me. The online movies you might have seen do not do it justice. If anyone has any questions about the show or if product X will be there or party questions, feel free to PM me or respond in the thread. |

Thanks for the advice. The shoes aren't an issue, as I'm on my feet all day anyway. I never thought about the food and drinks. This will save me. |
Heck. I wouldn't mind shin splints for a chance to go.

Yep the 6800 is gonna be the biggest advance in the video card market that we've seen in the past 4 years at least. It'll make us all forget that last year ever happened.

I'm SUPPOSE to go but we're haggeling with the E3 people over registration. Apparently we have some people with the same name in another complany
|
Well I know no-one has *my* name, so who's the guy with the generic name?
|
ill be going this year, its my second year.....i got there right about opening on the first day and it only took about 15 minutes for me to get my badge holder, granted this year you now have to get both there so who knows if this will slow things down.......and i agree about the food/water...LACC is a biggg rip off, if you can bring something with you great, there are a few places around within walking, but then you have to leave and come back...the biggest pain the ass though is parking, if the lakers arent in town then they open up the big lots across from the staples, but last year that only lasted the first day, because lakers came back into town.....and the earlier you get there, the cheaper the parking especially on laker playing days

Well got my confermation today. I'll be there. I will post pics :D |
Here's a good E3 question for the attendees... what's going to be your first stop. IOW, where are you headed the second the doors open and you're allowed onto the floor? To Nintendo's booth to see the DS? To one of the two HL2 movie theaters? To Microsoft to see the Halo 2 presentation? To Acclaim's booth to point and laugh at them?
|
Still up in the air if I'm going or not, but if I do go this would be my hit list.
1. Nintendo booth gotta see the DS - Very interested in this 2. Bioware booth 3. Blizzard booth 4. Eidos bar to see the lovey Linda :) |
Well, I'm going to go over to the LA convention center. Whether I will manage to get in, I don't know, because I never did implement a plan to get myself registered. (Begging starts here, I'm sorry, move along to the next post, yes I know my E3 issues are annoying, don't hold it against me, surely you can understand the torment of being so close, yet so far. I won't get anywhere if I don't ask.) If anyone can get me in, maybe we can work out a deal. :D What can I do for you?? I can be your chauffeur for a few days. (Parking does suck even when neither the Lakers nor E3 are in town). There must be something you need! :suave: Anyway I will be around, have fun if you're there.
PS What I want to see is Tribes: Vengeance, assuming it's there which I'm sure it will be. |
If Nvidia does a t-shirt give away again I'll hit those first. Two years ago the buddies I went with on won on the third day. GF4 Ti4600 for each of them.
I didn't get one cause I WENT TO WORK THE THIRD DAY!!! |
as soon as you can i'd love to get some hands-on DS impressions from a person who isn't writing for a magazine.
that'd be sweet. |
i know a couple developers that are going but sadly ill be up here in canada.. not that thats a bad thing
|
hmm....havent really decided, i guess its going to be:
1. Nintendo: DS 2. Sony: PSP 3. Infinium Labs: gotta see what the damn phantom is, but knowing them, they wont show up at the last minute.... 4. Microsoft: Halo 2 and then just wondering around, taking 1000's of photos and gettin all the free crap, damn i love trade shows...... |
Celebrity update for folks who will be going...
At the Vivendi Universal booth, you'll be able to see... * Vin Diesel Thursday 3-4 (promoting The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay) * The Coors Twins Wednesday 1-4 (promoting Crash Twinsanity) * Girls from SuicideGirls.com all day, every day (promoting Leisure Suit Larry) * The Laker Girls Wednesday, 11am-1pm (promoting... um... Half-Life 2. WTF??) There'll probably be some WWE wrestlers at THQ at some point as well. |
One more celebrity update:
I will be at the Tombstone pizza vending machine on thursday for lunch! That seemed a lot funnier when I thought of it... |
mrquackers,
check and see if Dixie (fellow TFP'er) is present at the SG booth. I guess she is a SuicideGirl now, though i'm not sure what that entails. Isn't that a softcore porn site? my ISP (university LAN) blocks it so i'm pretty sure that is so. That'd be crazy if ya saw her. |
SuicideGirls eh???? gotta bring some more cf cards for my cam now........
|
Celebrity update: Tera Patrick will be at the Eidos booth promoting Backyard Wrestling 2. I don't have the times yet, tho.
|
hey...i dont know if anyone is up for this, but maybe all the tfers who are going to e3 can meet one day somewhere and take like a group pic....sounds kind of corny i know but its kind of cool to meet face to face some fellow tfers....
|
I'm up for it. Not every day that tfp'ers get together. I'm up for a Thursday meeting. I'm meeting another group on Wed.
|
Sounds fun guys, but I'm afraid I am literally booked every day - Mon-Thurs from 7am-midnight with no breaks whatsoever. I could very well drop dead from exhaustion Friday night (when I'm booked to a leisurely 10pm).
