Kingdom of Loathing

Kingdom of Loathing is an online adventure game that I just started playing. Quirky, offbeat, and free, the only problem is that you can't do much in a day. On the plus side, it only takes about 10 minutes out of your day to play. Highly encourage everyone to give it a try:

I was going to make my own thread about this, but I remembered the search button first.

HEY! How come nobody checked this out? This is a totally awesome game. Like, I have a freaking pair of fuzzy dice for a pet. The class I chose was a disco-freakin-bandit. It is so totally wacky. Like, guess what you get when you combine a dictionary with a bridge.

...

AN ABRIDGED DICTIONARY. THE WACKYNESS METER IS OFF THE CHARTS. THIS IS A GOOD THING.

hehe been playing it for a couple of weeks now
great fun

the creator has a seriously warped twisted sense of humour, some of the stuff that happens is pretty funny

there is a nightly lag session @ midnight US EST, since thats when 'rollover' happens and every man and his dog logs on to play

there is also a backup session at..... gawd hmmmm..... around 5 am US EST?
somewhere round then
when the server basically goes offline for bout 30 mins

I've been playing this game for about 5 days and loving it. My friend just messaged me about it too and she likes it even more.

Does anyone know of any other browser based games you would recommend. I am also currently playing www.u-dominion.com and of course the classic www.progressquest.com I'm looking for things to make the work night pass.

Try Utopia.

I played Utopia for several years before I decided that I was much too addicted. It's neat because every round they change some things around just so people can't create formulas to be the best.

EDIT: here's the link: Utopia

This deserves a bump. Like, a major bump. No, this isn't even a bump, this is a public service annoucment.
Go Play This Game!

This is possibly the greatest game ever!

Lots of puns and refferences that are sure to make you feel especailly smart when you get them. Like the breifcase bat that deals damage by shining a golden beam of light at you.

Great radio station, also- if that's your thing. Players rotate through DJ duty.

I'm a level 11 Disco Bandit. I play every night, and when I'm bored I stock my store, its been good to me

Anyhow, this is the best game ever. Everyone should play

I would say the biggest to do is to check out all that is offered and play around with all the items you get.
Listen to the radio station that is contstantly playing (click on the Radio link at the top of the page) and at least lurk in a chat channel. The game makes more sense and feel more rich when you immerse yourself in those things.
To know what the items do go to the "official fansite" KOL Coldfront . That is very helpful when you start to cook and combine things.

I wouldn't say there are any don'ts that I know of yet.

Anybody feel free to send me a message over at KOL. My name is lithium_6, currently a level 8 Vermicelli Enchanter.

In other news... I am still looking for a good clan if someone knows of a good one to join.

I am adamently addicted to KoL. It has taken over my life. I love it. It is my first gaming experience. It is funny, it is clever and it is simple, in an evil genius sort of way.
The forums, the chat and the radio are all helps in their way of getting to know the game better as well as the players who are largely quite helpful. There are always asshats to be found anywhere.

Yeah, we need more people, because I keep squandering the clan funds on phantom trollbooths and clan wide stat boosts.

The radio station is great too.

Hey Aphex, normally you can find me chatting in normal or radio. I will occasionaly venture to the newbie channel with a question or to help, and from time to time I go to the haiku channel to have some 5-7-5 fun.

Saut, the "TFP" clan is called Tilted Freedom Providers, and feel free to apply when you get high enough in level. I think level 3 is the limit. We would be happy to have you.

silenced, try eating and drinking different things, I overlooked that for the first couple of weeks I was playing. You will have lots more adventures to waste your day away with if you eat and drink some hearty meals.

Taking everyones advice, I checked this game out. I'm completely baffled by this game, and completely addicted. This game is absolutely great.

I need more adventures though, work has been slow and I need something to do.

Thanks for pointing me at KoL.
