Question about NES emulators

Can anyone guide me in the right direction in this area? I'd love to play some of these old NES games mostly for nostalgic value, yet my attempts have failed regarding emulators. I have about two years of limited experience with computers, so please respond as wyou were to an amateur! Many thanks in advance.

Try this page:

www.zophar.net

It has a good list of emulators for different systems, no roms though.

Good thing because posting where to get Rom's is a big no-no.
'Cause a whole hell of a lot of them are illegal..

So don't even think about posting any links here

If I downloaded any games, they would be only ones I actually owned, which I think is not illegal, maybe like being able to legally download music to MP3 when you already have the song on cassette or vinyl. Oh well, I understand why no posted ROM links. Thanks, still.

I understand why you don't want this board turning into a warez trading site, but is it really illegal to post a link to a site with ROMS? I am just curious because down on the titty board they don't seem to care too much about copyright.

In response to what I wrote about having the original, therefor I can get a ROM of the same game... apparently the Nintendo website claims all NES ROM downloads are illegal. Humph.

Ganguro,

I wouldn't dare post a roms page, that's for someone else to find. What about abondonware pages?

You should be able to find them using google. My personal favs are VirtuaNES for regular nintendo, and SNES9X for super nintendo.

goto www.google.com and search for nes emulator i used to use .. hmm i can't 'say' it.. it rhymes with testicle!

anyhow, every gamer has used it.. i frown upon trading currently marketed games you can find easily.. like psx games or dreamcast..... but nintendo, atari....

go for it.

Roms and emulators suck! >_<
Just get the old thing, it's way more fun. Assuming you can get it to work of course. There's just something about that controller that's sort of.... reassuring.

Check out the newsgroups. alt.binaries.____
then you figure out the rest.

I recommend FCE Ultra for NES, Project 64, SNES9x and Gens just to name a few.

I have a huge collection of roms, though I agree with forgotten_dream, nothing beats the old thing. That's why I still have my NES and just picked up a Gameboy. It's just not the same without the old controllers....But it's still fun on the computer not having to deal with carts anymore.
