Its almost here, Final Fantasy XI, who else will rejoice with me?

Was just wondering who else here was waitig for Final fantasy XI. I've already told all my friends that after March 24 I'm basically gonna kill my social life.

KvK will be introduced into the game in a couple months - I've been playing the PC version since the US release.

what the fuck does this mean?

im interested in FFXI, but it's a large initial investment..
99 for game and hard drive 30 for modem, 13 for game per month..
hmm..that's a 150.00 game

If i go the PC route, it's 50 for the game and 13 for the monthly fee; but im going to have to upgrade my computer to play it..
hmm...

i have been playing a taru black mage for the last 2 months. and i seriously love it. i would go the pc route, even if you do not like the game you still have an upgraded comp. i should also add that this game is intensly party based. you can NOT solo and gain meaningfull exp after lvl 12. and the people in the party have to be within 3 lvls of eachother or your exp is a lot lower then it could be. this is good thing.

I can't see what's big deal with not haveing PvP. I mean, can't there be games where you play for fun and roleplay abit rather than just "Oh, my lvl 9999999 uber wacca wacca Dark god incarnate can kick your lvl 9999999 Infernal servant, master of giveing pain's ass. All because you put one more point in that obscure skill which was undocumented sideeffects towards blocking.

All games does not have to centered towards giveing you a bigger E-penis by spending countless hours to get the perfect build and killing another guy that has spent the same time on his build. There are enough of those games out already.

I'm gonna go the PS2 route myself if in case that wasn't obvious fromt he intial post. I"m not really worrying about the initial investment if anything because I really see it worth it. I"ve been a fan of MMORPG myself but unfortunatly the computer I have and have had never really were up to date with the newest one out there. Ragnorak ruled for an hour but with the sucky graphics card on this machine...it was a f'sking pain. Runescape was fun but I really found more fun in completeing the missions then I did in actually partying and meeting new people.
With FFXI this thing really seems to be the entire package for me and for some of my friends. Most of my friends have already called dibs on my cable bandwidth, so hopefully I guess my social life won't be totally dead.
I'm hoping to start out as a red mage and slowly work my way up to Samarui after enough time. After the release everyone is more then welcome to message me for party info.

Every single mainstream MMORPG on the market is a gigantic leveling treadmill. Each one is basically an E-Penis size vs. time invested kind of thing. FFXI is no different.

Even if they are going to introduce PvP, it's just going to be an afterthought, and any MMORPG that doesn't focus on PvP is the suck.

Geforce 4 MX is old and crappy. I had it up until just a few months ago.

Got a Radeon 9600 for cheap. I'd recommend it.

I was out and about at a local pool hall with some friends when I saw the commercial for the game. Seeing as how I sorta stopped mid shot to drool at the commercial everyone thought I had lost my mind. Then they saw what it was for and fully understood.
Anyone else seen the commercial?

Geforce FX 5200 is really a Geforce MX in disguise. You should've gotten a Geforce Ti 4200 or Radeon 9600 xt.

i don't see the benefit of having it for ps2 when having it for the computer would be 10x better, especially when you have to tack on the price of the harddrive and modem

well, some people dont have good computers,. Take me for example..I had to upgrade to play this game. All together it was about 400 bucks. . If i really wanted to play FFXI that bad and had a PS2 It would only cost me about $125-$150.

There is a special controller they released for online games called the Itype2. This thing was worth a pretty penny but all in all it seems like a sturdy controller on its own right. Slowly piece by piece it coems together.
