Quake 1 and Ultima Online are simply the best games for me. I still miss those games and I haven't played them in 3-4 years.
|
Final Fantasy IV
|
Tie between EQ and FF7.
|
I will also have to cheat and name more than one game:
Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy VI Half-Life Metal Gear Solid |

I have a friend, one of the best players I know, has a K-D ratio of almost 3-1, and is ranked at 100,000. Myself, I was a captain for a good while, but then I realized how pointless it was, so I played the game the way it should be played. Every teammate that is an asshole, dead. Every moron on my team, dead. Every racist, bigot, or overall annoying person, dead. I probably have upwards of 500 intentional team kills. As a result, dropped about 100,000. Too much point whoring, cheesing, cheating, and overall bullshit in the ranking system to make it worthwhile. |
Blaster Master or Life Force on NES
But my new fav game is Far Cry....as of last night at least :D |

It's a difficult choice but I would have to say that my favorite game of all time is... The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. If you asked me why I probably couldn't tell you, I guess it's just something about the combination of everything the game encompasses which is why I enjoy it so much.

can't decide...
chrono trigger - SNES yoshi's island - SNES Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64 FF VII - PS i think with the timing that yoshi's island had in its release (sega saturn and playstation emerging) really hurt its place in the pantheon of great games. there seriously isn't a more fun 2D game with the anywhere near the depth of gameplay. plus, the graphics are ridiculously good for the platform. so many people were busy being impressed by all the average-quality 3D games that this kind of slipped under the radar. wow... that game is a shining example of what sets miyamoto apart. oh, and ditto that Fox1... there really was something intangibly great about that one. The first time through was definitely one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. |
Ultima 7

XENO-FOKKING-GEARS

hmmmm this is a tough one
fav RTS: C&C and most sequels, cept tiberian sun, but i definetely loved most of the series, westwood rocks :) RPG: toss-up between chrono trigger, KOTOR and diablo2, been playing d2 for almost 2 years now and still addicted..... FPS: Starsiege tribes, most of you probably never heard of this game ;) loved it, in my opinion the best team-based FPS ever made, the sequel i didn't like as much, but still cool. can't wait for the next installment, tribes:vengence :) and for those interested, T1 and T2 are gonna be avail free in some mag in june i believe, computer gaming world or something.. can't remember exactly... and also gonna be available on file planet ;) definetely worth the download methinks ;) but i already have both |
counterstrike has been my fav in the past.
|
Star Control 2
Master of Magic X-com Scorched Earth Worms Recently, 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' has been quite a favorite. |
I'm not 100% certain but right now (the original) Splinter Cell ranks right up there, I love this game so badly it's sad. Whenever a news reel is shown shivers are sent down my spine and my mouth gaps in terror.
|
I can't decide on just one, but these are definitely my all time favoirtes.
Super Metroid Metroid Prime Street Fighter Alpha 3 Final Fantasy VII Metal Gear Solid The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time KOTOR |
Crap. I forgot to mention Mario Go Kart
|
Its all about Command&Conquer....
That game consumed my life... |
It's been mentioned a few times already but Knights of the old republic is a great game. Just completed it and it took over my life for a while.
|
FF6 and FF Tactics. You can't do better than that.
|
easy one for me - Bard's Tale
battling for runner-up: Pole Position and Mario Brother, both on Atari 7800. Wolfenstein 3-D would get honourable mention as well. Text games and Myst place near the top as well. Never have played more than 5 minutes of quake or any of its sequels, but did my share of Doom and the 'thousand WAD file' expansion package though. Rise of Triad always entertained me more than Doom or any of its other clones; have to love 'dog mode' and the all-mighty hand that smotes anyone down. |
goldeneye for n64, halo, counterstrike, dark age of camelot /blush

My first thought before I saw everybody's picks was definitely Chrono Trigger, but after thinking about it I narrowed it down to 3 great games:
1 Chrono Trigger 2 Starcraft (oh, the hours wasted..) 3 Zelda: Ocarina of Time |

one of the best strategy games ever but i still love C&C more ;) |
FarCry for PC has to be up there, have not stoped playing this
|
The first Spy Hunter. I can still play that for hours.
|
Super Mario Bros. I could play that game everyday and still enjoy it.
|
Magician Lord - NeoGeo
|
Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar
I miss my Apple IIGS |
X-wing+ Expansion, TIE Fighter + Expansion and Fallout 2 are my alltime favorites.
Honerable mentions to: FFVII, FFX, Civ 2, StarCraft |
At the risk of being called a fanboy, my favorite game ever is Zelda: Wind Waker. I was skeptical at first, but I've always been a huge LoZ fan, so I decided to give it a try.
My previous favorite game ever had been Ocarina of Time, and I had more fun playing Wind Waker (better engine, among other things), so WW has become my favorite. My favorite non-Zelda game is probably either Chrono Trigger, or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The Metroids are up there too. |
Gotta go with Halo.
|
X-COM UFO Defense. It's turn-based, a decade old, and doesn't run well on WinXP, but god DAMN.
