Favorite Castlevania Game?

I was thinking today - while playing Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse - about what everyone's favorite Castlevania game might be. So, I decided to make a poll on it. However, there are 18 Castlevania games, so I had to omit some (8). I think I did a good job in my omissions though because I don't think anyone would have really voted for some of them. If I left out your favorite, just state it in your response

So, what's yours? Mine is Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse for NES Not only is the gameplay great - I love having a second character to switch between - but the music is some of the best Castlevania music IMO as well.

I just recently tried out Dracula X on an emulator and I must say....what were they thinking? The special weapons are absolutely rediculous

Draculas Curse and Symphony of the Night are probably the two best ones, although Lament of Innocence is a great new addition to the lineup gameplay wise.

Symphony of the Night for me. The GBA games are almost as good, albeit not as deep. There's stuff in SOTN that I bet no one has found yet, and it's fun just to experiment with Alucard's toys- like the Sword of Dawn, which summons zombie warriors, and the always-entertaining Shield Rod.

I'm still looking for Castlevania Chronicles... had a chance to get it once a year ago, and haven't seen it since. It's supposed to be of the same caliber.

I voted for Symphony of the Night, I think Konami also released it for the Sega Saturn in Japan. You have the option to play as Maria (it's either a code, or a bonus after finishing the game), and there's a hidden area, I'd really like to play that one. I might have voted for Dracula X for the PC Engine if it were included, it was ridiculously better than the SNES port.

Super Castlevania is awesome and probably my favorite of the series. Simon's Quest is great, too.

Nah, it was for the PC Engine, what we called the Turbografx-16. Looking for a copy of this myself.

SOTN is one of the most polished and fun games ever made. Anytime a sidescroller can make you spend 20-40 hours playing it, it should automaticaly win best in the series. After that, I'd say Castlevania 2, I really liked the adventure flavor.

Yeah, there were hundreds of amazing PC Engine games available in Japan. If NEC had put a little effort into localizing even 5% of the titles available in Japan, the TG-16 would have easily held it's own against the SNES and the Genesis.

I love symphony of the night. THere is just so many little things that make that game special. I like aria of sorrow. It was a little too easy though.

Symphony of the Night was great. The game was almost flawless.

I wonder why Circle of the Moon wasn't listed, It's my favorite of the GBA games.

Honestly...cause I forgot about it I'll edit the poll and put it in place of Castlevania: Bloodlines. I think it's more likely to get a vote than that one anyways.

OK, I just beat Super Castlevania IV and I gotta say that was one awesome game. I wouldn't say it's better than Castlevania III (relative time period considered) but I definitely liked the ability to swing from hooks and the insane amount of control over the whip you get. Too bad that's not in any of the other games to the same degree. I was sort of disappointed that...
Spoiler: Dracula didn't turn into a giant demon at the end...
but he was hard enough anyway

I can't remember what I voted for, because I voted like 2 weeks ago and forgot to submit a reply. But I loved the 3 GBA games, I destroyed them while I was in rehab out in Utah. I got through most of LoI, but I never got the chance to beat it, I think I may have deleted the game file from my memory card...oh well. I plan on picking up a ps1 memory card and SotN, if I can find it anywhere...like LoI, I never got around to finishing it.

The second one, it's the perfect blend of rpg elements without getting too complex.

And it was damn fun.
