The "Spring 2004: Best. Game. Ever." Contest
http://www.GameFAQs.com
For the past two years, GameFAQs has had contests in the summer. The contest was a bracket filled with 64 video game characters, and it was the people's job to vote which character they liked more in one-on-one battles. Not who you thought was more bad-ass, not who you thought was more revolutionary...just who you liked more. Link won it the first year, and Cloud won it last year. With all that aside, there'll still be another summer contest this year between the characters. HOWEVER, this year will be the first-annual spring contest, where the brackets will be filled with games instead of characters. If you check out the site's home-page right now, it will give you a link where you can nominate one game per system to be in this contest, but you have to be registered (it's easy to). By the beginning of March, the brackets will be up, and everyone who is registered will be allowed to make their official bracket-predictions on who'll win what. Then, in April and May, one battle a day will occur, and there will be a winner at the end of it to decide what is the "Best. Game. Ever." (you don't have to be registered to vote). I just wanted to go ahead and point this out for anyone who's interested, because I'm really into this kind of thing and I'm sure I'm not the only one. A lil' early to post this contest that officially starts in April? Nah, I figured I'd give everyone some time to nominate some games. Side-note: If you got no idea what to nominate for the Sega Genesis, think of Earthworm Jim.

I was gonna nominate Final Fantasy 7, but I changed my mind and picked Metal Gear Solid. I was gonna pick Mario 3, but I switched to MegaMan 2. I was gonna choose Wind Waker, but...well, I did. I'm a fanboy in many ways, but I'm a not a stupid one that's blind to facts and the opinions of others, heh, so don't even dare toss me in that wicked category. Who'd you predict would win the past two contests, by the way?

Dang, man, that's a bummer. I didn't finish my bracket for the first contest, but I had it all planned out that Mario was gonna win against Sonic. Last year I had Link beating Sephiroth a second time. This year, well, I don't know yet...I think Solid Snake will do alot better than he's been doing (and he's held his own in these contests so far), but I'm gonna wait until the brackets come out in June before I decide.
That's a whole 'nother contest though; what'd you nominate for the Best Game Ever?

I never could get into RPG's that much, except for a select few. With that said, Chrono Trigger is one of the three I enjoy (FF7 and Super Mario RPG are the other two), and I nominated Super Mario Kart for the SNES over CT anyway. It's a good game though, no doubt about that.

The brackets are now up at GameFAQs, for those who are interested. You can check out the brackets for yourself, but there are some interesting 1st-round battles...
Donkey Kong vs Duck Hunt Perfect Dark vs Castlevania: Syphony Of The Night Halo vs StarCraft Super Smash Brothers: Melee vs Metal Gear Solid 2 ...but it only gets harder and harder through-out the tourney. I hope everyone'll check it out.
