Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance - anyone beat it?
I've got BG:DA for the Gamecube and I'm on the 2nd to the last boss, the lizard king. I'm stuck. I can't kill this guys for nothin'. Anyone beat him? What did you do?
|
i've won this game on PS2... not GC.
is it the same thing?? is the lizard king the second last boss?? i thought there was a fair way to go after him. |
I beat it with my friend. I don't remember a lizard man. We fought this tall chick in armor with big floppy tits unless there are multiple endings.
|
I havent played Dark alience due to having no games consol but I loved the Balders Gate games on the PC. How different are the games in reference to rules, gamplay, available characters etc. I loved playing the monk on the PC. Can you be a monk in Dark Alliance?

Hmm, it's been quite some time since I played that game but I do remember the boss you're talking about. I seem to recall having a tough time defeating that guy as well but I did eventually kill it. It involved a lot of running away and dying several times before I could manage it, though.
|
<sigh> I'll keep plugging away then. I chose the archer so it's shoot a lot, run away, shoot a little more, run away, shoot once, he hits me, run like hell and try to heal.
|
Much easier, and more fun, if you can get a friend to join you =D. I've done it on easy and extreme with co-op. that lizard guy is a bitch, really. We didn't use the archer, but we had the other two. It took a fair amount of teamwork to get through it, though, and about 4 hours of playing =) Good luck =D

i finished it on the ps2 .. but cant remember any hard bosses ? hmmm is the gc version tougher ?
|
Yeah I remember that guy really well, he's a bitch. One of my strategies is to run down the hallway with him chasing you, take a right into a room with a bunch of explosive barrels. Keep running and ignite the fuses as you go past. Et may not do a lot of damage to him, but every little bit helps. Oh yeah and since your and archer, use the lightning arrows. Those will make him pause alot.
|
The guy with the bigass club? My friend was playing a warror, and my wizard had eaten it..so he was solo.
His tactic was running around, and timing his swings so he wouldnt get hit,and if he did...pumping out the healing potions. It's simple..but it worked. |
Yeah, that's what I did with a warrior. My roommate's soceress took out all those friggin' barrels, and so I used the tried and true run around him and hit when his side was toward my char. Repeat that multiple times and you won't get hit nearly as much.
|
So was it worth it? I've been thinking about getting this game since it came out. I heard it was only about 12 hours long but the guys at Pennyarcade.com said it was much longer.
|
i played da2 on the xbox with my friend, its a great co op game with more characters to choose from than 1
|
If you want to win "completely" have to beat the extreme mode, which is soooooo friggin' hard, and that's what makes it longer.
|
I'll tell you what beat Baldur's Gate II,
Everquest Champions of Norrath. A better game in almost every way. If you played it once you would want to forget that you ever wasted you precious time playing BG II. Trust me. |

I do have a full set of Full Plate Armor + and a 43-83 Sword, but I'm not sure if your guy had that good of stuff or not. -Lasereth |
Ooook Lasereth, that's odd. It took me a long time to kill him, and I had a better weapon, well go figure. Now those bullettes (I think that's how to spell it) in the swamps after that are the real bitches though.
Oh yeah and I'll go with penny-arcade's evalution of the DA2 and Champions of Norrath, they enjoyed Baldur's Gate 2 much more. |

I just beat it. The end boss went down in about 25 seconds. Great game, I recommend it to anyone who wants a fun hack and slash with a great story.

I've beaten the game multiple times, so I know all the bosses pretty well. The one difficulty that I haven't beaten though would be easy mode (I never go through games on easy mode). Was that the difficulty you beat it on? Anyway, I'll agree with your assesment of the last boss though. She's so friggin' easy to beat it's not even funny.
|
I played it Normal, but I don't plan to beat it on the Hard or Extreme whatever modes. Once was enough for me; I think I'll start Beyond Good and Evil now. :)

I remember that a friend and I played the game together, and at the lizard boss my fighter died halfway through the fight since I ran out of potions. My friend's sorcerer finished the job, using an ice ball sort of thing. The end was also very much an anticlimax. They build this character up as nigh-invicible and she falls in a minute. I honestly expected a Final Fantasy style form change and having to beat her 3 more times.
