The Official Final Fantasy XI thread!
Okay, so who has the game? I've been playing it for two weeks. My nation is San D'oria and I'm a galkan monk. Barely made my way out to the Valkrum dunes since I barely got to level 14! w00t! God damn, only two weeks of playing and I'm already a major FFXI geek! Heh. So... discuss.

The search function is your friend... That being said I really hate what Squaresoft did with Final Fantasy XI. I would LOVE to play a FF MMORPG except one that takes the EverQuest treadmill model and multiplies the wait time by 3. Also, forced grouping is bs and any game that has it gets a big ol' "NO" in my book. FF XI lacks PVP, you can only have on character and the stupid world pass system, all gigantic "NOs" in my book The first MMORPG to get it right is going to make the Everquest subscription base look tiny.

The game sucks ass for a mmorpg. There are about 5 different mobs skins in the game (im exagerrating but not by much), no pvp, prominantly japanese speaking playerbase, can't pick server, horribly slow xp pace, boring combat, worst UI I have ever seen in a game to date, everybody looks the same, unrewarding quests, horribly camped NMs by high level JPN players, hmmm I could go on and on about how shitty the game is but I will let others continue for me
![]() The game was made for the PS2 in Japan and later on it came out for the PC in the US. This game cannot even come close to comparing with any mmorpg that PCs offer. Last edited by Plan9Senior; 02-11-2004 at 04:57 PM.. |

What's official about it? Anyway, my friend was in the beta and I played/watched him play for quite a bit. As a Final Fantasy game, it certainly delivers some of the familiar FF fare such as the different mages and the environments are definitely reminiscent of FF. However, as an MMORPG it's fairly generic and unoriginal. The idea of an evolving story is kind of cool but I was disappointed that you aren't able to attack other players. I need my PvP! In the end, all MMORPG's are leveling treadmills with lots of shiny stuff to do to distract you from that fact.
