Gamasutra
Basically, for anyone interested in games (namely more on the indepth developement side) beyond the pretty graphics and gameplay; i suggest you check out www.gamasutra.com
It has the apt sub-header of The Art and Science of Making Games. There's heaps of good articles/features and other of media of people in the industry, talking in all apsects, about making games etc. One of my favourtie sections is postmortem in which they look back over a game and look at the good and bad things they did in terms of developing it. Quite interesting, if you're into that kinda stuff Even more casual gamers might find some stuff interesting, cause it's beyond what you'd normally get on any other commerical game review site, like Gamespot or IGN. Also, does anyone else know if there are any other sites like this about? |

If you're interested in the graphics side of games, look up the SIGGRAPH conference, www.highend3d.com, and www.cgtalk.com (Fantastic for getting critiques of your work!).

Also.. check out the Game Developer's Conference, and there is a homedev conference this fall in Cali too. |

If loping on the Mac side, iDevGames is an indisposeable resource. PC devs should at least have a look at it, it has a number of articles on game design and running a game company that are applicable to any platform. The site is having problems with hackers recently, though, so it may be offline.

http://www.gamedev.net These are both good sites with tons of resources on game development. They're not as frequently updated as Gamasutra, and most of the content is pretty old, but they're still great places tolearn about game development. Bookmark them.
