For us poor folks
Since we are all poor in society these days, anyone have any ideas on free online games? Any kinds are good. i'm particular with the massively multiplayer online rpgs and adventure games.
I have runescape, shattered galaxy, heh thats about it. make sure they are FREE, or at least have a unlimited play time without paying.

Hmm....a FREE MMORPG? I can honestly say I don't know of any at all, unless we start talking MUDs, but I have a feeling that's not what you're looking for. Never Winter Nights is Multiplayer Online, but not massive....there's of course no monthly charge for games like this. If anyone knows of a free MMO, I would like to hear it as well.
If you keep an eye on the major MMOs, most of the time at least one will be offering a free trial, but then you have to pay after that. Sorry I couldn't help more.

gunbound was free last time i checked.. great fun .. not mmorpg.. but its like worms..
I also used to play RO... I played on private/free servers.. but even the free servers became locked after a number joined... The new ones I joined were very scarcely populated... You mite want to look in to that too...

for cheesy games for free I like www.addictinggames.com. Not the type you are looking for, but still good games.

Maybe BattleArena (sic)? It's an mmo strategy game from what I gather, similar to the fighting in realms of arkania from way back, and you build and create and level up your team. I think, anyway, never played it.

http://games.activision.com/games/wolfenstein/ click on enemy territory....free download, free play. FPS game
www.americasarmy.com also a FPS, used as a recruiting tool by the United States Army. Developed by the Army and distributed for free. Free play as well. You can download the 650 meg file from this website or go to your local recruiter and get a "free" CD containing the game. I say "free" because you will get the whole "Do you have a few minutes to talk?" This is the best I can do for you. All free and all legal.

One I played for awhile back in it's infancy is Imperian Conflict at http://www.imperialconflict.com but I have not even checked the website for at least a year, it was good fun, it's a turn based strategy where every hour is a turn, like the game Utopia and, er, the more spacier utopia that I can't remember the name of. Might want to see if you like Utopia too at http://games.swirve.com/utopia/
..Oh, and then there's archmage at http://www.magewar.com/ which is fun but tends to fade pretty quickly. It's hour-based strategy as well, but a little different. See if you like any of those, last I checked they were free (minus the optional premiums accounts and that kind of bull)

Oh, and check out http://www.mpogd.com , it's a directory of online games, some free, some in betas, whatever. You might find something else good in there, too!
