Any one going to E3?

I just got my conformation for E3. Is anyone from the TFP going?

For those who don't know what it's about www.e3expo.com

Basicly a convention for gamers. Previews of all the upcomming games for all platforms. Some hardware previews and plenty of booth babes

I went in 1999, and had a freaking blast. It was great then, and I can only imagine it'll be great now.

The year I went was the first showing of the PS2 in the US. From what I remember, they only had 1 console and it was kept in this pyramid looking thing...The line to play it was a mile long. It was also the year Phantom Menace came out and they had this huge setup for Pod Racer -- complete with our favorite kid actor Jake Lloyd making an appearance. And Darth Maul shit was EVERYWHERE.

By the end of it, you're sick of playing video games, but as soon as it's over, you'll wish you spent one more minute on a certain game...

Have fun and bring me back cool free shit. :-)

I'll take plenty of pictures and post them here.
I'm really looking forward to previews of Half LIfe 2 and I hear they'll be showing more of Doom III. Maybe it will be playable!

It's free to get in...

It's a trade show, only people that work in the games industry are allowed to get in.

If you've ever been to one, you'll know that's obviously not true. :-)

And it may be free to employees because their employer pays, but for those posing as industry types it ran me about $100 back in 1999. Plus airfare from DC to LA and $250 a night in the same Beverly Hills hotel as John Romero. Saw him one morning hop into a Ferarri with some bimbo.

Yeah everyone makes a fuss of how hard it is to get into E3, its not, you just can't be a complete muppet about it, half an hour with photoshop can get you the needed stuff to get in.

johns "bimbo" is his gf stevie and shes one of the coolest people i know, they'll be there at E3 this year too, hopefully showing off one of my games as well, if i ever get off tfp and start working.

its also free for non industry types, theres just different levels of floor pases, the basic exhibition only pass (package 5) is and has always been free, you just have to register earlier to get it. Though this is the package you have to "prove" you are in the games industry.

All it really takes is a business name, matching e-mail address and a contact person that will say you work for that company. I got in as an employee of a computer consulting company that a friends brother owns

Or you can pay the $375 dollars and get in for 3 days.

Heya, if ya can, try to stop by the NCSoft booth and get some pics and info of the Superhero MMORPG called City of Heroes. I've been following this game in developement for a long time (nearly two years). I was also recently made Site Admin to a fansite dedicated to this game and Superhero Culture if anyone is interested... It's called The Registry and I also moderate The Hero Lounge which I am always trying to keep updated with cool superhero related sites...

Anyways, any info or pics would be greatly appreciated

Thank god for this thread, I just realized I may be able to go to e3 this year.
I'm gonna be heading out to California for college and be there when this starts and I'm doing some testing for a games company. I'll try my best to go, I just need to talk with my people.

Wait, the site said "There are NO FREE ADMISSIONS on-site. E3 is a trade event, and is not open to the general public." How does claiming to work at a company patch that up?
I will be out there and I work for a games company but I can't justify spending nearly $400 to ogle at some unreleased games.

No free admissions on site. That means if you didn't get a free pass by event time you can buy one there if your an industry type.

I'll start a new thread the first day of E3 and post all pics day by day

Yah I got a pass to E3, they are alot stricter on getting one and do check at the doors and when going into the exhibition halls, as for photoshoping an ID that won't work, you have to get a badgeholder from them to get in and they scan the card to check the info on it and check ID. But it's a good thing, means its less croweded.
